Furniture Picks for Picturesque Patios
Get Your Outdoor Space in Peak Condition With These Patio Furnishings
Not too long ago our options for patio furniture were very limited, and usually involved some sort of matchy-matchy set of metal or plastic and a table with an umbrella hole in the middle of it. Luckily, new ways of weatherproofing and new-found attention being paid to outdoor areas has opened up the options to all sorts of furniture styles. Lets take a look at how Houzz designers are mixing, matching and upholstering to provide neat outdoor spots to sit, lounge, visit and eat.
A number of eclectic pieces add interest and distract from the small size of this patio. While the wrought iron chairs and Chinese Chippendale garden bench are traditional pieces, the paint color choices and throwing them together with that interesting table give it an eclectic look. I wasn't trying to disrespect traditional patio furniture in the introduction — I think this set of wrought iron furniture is perfect for this classic home and patio.
A porch favorite for a long time, wicker chairs also look great on a patio. Just make sure yours are treated in a way that can stand up to the weather if you plan on leaving them out all the time.
Twig furniture is always nice in a patio that is surrounded by a garden. I love the way this one plays off the lines of that tree.
There's something very "Talitha Getty in Morocco" about these built-in daybeds/benches. A pile of pillows covered in Sunbrella fabric can easily transform a hard stone bench into a comfortable spot for a nap.
Here's a lovely serpentine version of hardscape furniture.
There's something wonderful about these chairs and their arrangement. They are just waiting for a group of friends to grab some cold drinks and have a chat. The color and style does a great job of tying the architecture of the house and the landscape architecture together.
Woods like teak can stand up to the elements, and these days there are plenty of options out there in the material for those who prefer modern and contemporary patio furnishings.
This set of contemporary lounge chairs is so wonderful on this patio; its woven texture plays off the weave of the dramatic copper wall.
Some of the most useful patio furniture is very simple. These benches are wonderful for seating a large number of people at a gathering, for sunning and for sitting by the fire pit.
