A couple days of daylilies, a seedling

Still just a few blooming but in a day or two they will begin to really get going.

Smoky Mt. Autumn x Jolyene Nichole, year 3. Taller-26, more buds, 10+. Looks so much like SMA that if all goes well I will use it to replace SMA as it is short, low buds.

Lavender Dew, a favorite. Lovely color. Camera was fogging.

The Smoky Mt. Autumr seedling is a lovely shade of pink. Lavender Dew is always such a pretty lavender. It's good to see more of your daylilies starting. I'm having ongoing lens fog problems too.

Lavender Dew is so pretty-I like the soft color. Your seedling is pretty-does it have the polychrome look like SMA?

Just wonderful to see new ones in bloom, isn't it? I love Sp. Sea Shells every time I see it. The green on the second Paul Owen seedling really looks nice. A guy at work wanted a green daylily and I told him that most are yellow with a greenish cast. Well, this one appears to be as close to green as I've seen. Vickie

Yea Chad-that WILL be an issue but thats why it is next to the porch,so I can add on and secure it to the house(-: The 2 varieties I like are the New Zealand purple and the Ricin "Zanzibar" -the latter is the big leaved one (-; Sometimes the leaves on the Purps do look like cooper but it is difficult to capture on "film" All the other Castors are normal sized,the 4 big boys jumped out quick and with the help of a week of 80s in March they broke out of the seedling stage fast-one of the nice things about having all the protection laying around from the palms is that I was able to use some of it on the Bananas and Castors. At one point my Abyssinian grew like 1' in a few days because it was hitting the 90s in the cover- Also-the 4 biggest Castors were planted (by at least)April 6 and I think that is a month earlier than "normal".

Stella has become a staple in many gardens , mine included and has been used to create a number of other cultivars........it is always good to use for hybridizing for its genes for constant bloom and yes it is reliable and a lovely shade of yellow .

We hope to have 6 intros for next year. For some reason, Houzz won't let me post any more pictures. The one being lined out in the picture above is Empire of Dawn and Dusk X Ruby Lipstick. That's the one I have posted so often (and I bet you got sick of looking at it). We have a name picked out and the stats gathered. It will be very limited though. It does not appear to be a super fast increaser, but we have split it and moved it several times. It makes a nice clump, though, and seems to bloom a long time because it has good scape to fan ratio (we had six fans with six scapes in the clump we have in the front garden) and has instant rebloom. It will set pods and its pollen is good. We have lots of seedling babies with it as pollen parent. I'll try to post the others in the next comment. Nancy

The Smoky Mountain Autumn seedling is lovely! It's nice when a seedling is an improvement on the parent. Lavender Dew is pretty too. Don't you hate it when the camera fogs up? I never notice until I get into the house and see my pictures are all subpar.

Kate, I have several SMA seedlings. The best ones last year had the polychrome. I forgot to thoroughly notice on the one this morning but I'm pretty sure it does. I need to check. It is an important trait.

How does Lavender Dew age, as you have some pictures that are quite reddish? Of course, with greater light the red hues take over. This humidity can destroy a camera.

The reddish would be the camera. Lavender Dew is hardly affected by the weather!

I just checked my flowers. The SMA does have polychrome, the Lavender Dew is just a hint redder on this hot humid afternoon.

OK Sherry--the please got me! Seedling left, Smoky right. I know that I do have a seedling the same as smoky. When It blooms I will make the comparison again.
