IMO the fewer types of flooring the better and I see no issue with the LVP with thecabinets . What does the new cabinet hardware connect to ? Are you just throwing in gold because you think it is better than the stainless which BTW IMO is more timeless .I would never do a black sink in kitchen and agine what does the black connect to? The ferer finishes then more timeless the design , I think the best quality stainless sink you can afford is always a better choice than any other finish.I will say that your cabinets look to be dated to me all the base cabinets should be drawers and your appear to not be so spaending all this money on changing things without brining the cabinets up to date and so much more functional does not make sense to me .I aslo do not think marble look floor is the answer in that space . It always helps to see the whole space when you are asking for help.

A black corian sink will be problematic with showing hard water and soap residue. I would do all white, of if you wanted a combo black counter with a white sink. But I would do a stainless sink rather than a corian sink in the kitchen.

I disagree that the cabinets look dated ... they're a simple wood cabinet, no specific date that I could put on them. The doors vs cabinets debate would depend on your preferences for storage. Many people on here tout plates and bowls in drawers, and I would hate that. Get the cabinetry that you want for your stuff.

I would prabably just go with a stainless sink, though ... you have a stainless range, so it wouldn't be the only stainless feature and is certainly simple and timeless. I don't know how well a stainless sink would go with your gold faucet, though they don't actually abut with an undermount, so probably fine. Your hardware isn't my cup of tea, but it's not my kitchen ... your house is probably a different style than mine; I like it a bit better in the picture with the stove, though it's still a more contemporary shape than I'd pick.

I like the continuing floor better than changing. I also don't find tile enjoyable to walk and stand on, so it wouldn't be high on my list in a kitchen. I'd pick the LVP.

I will try to elaborate in photos. I was thinking a quartz Black elkay. I have seen it done nicely. Also- I do like white sinks too and I have an undermount cast iron I can use. I just wasn’t sure if all the whites would connect well in the end although in person they seem to go well, installed it can look different.

I had a SS in the original kitchen and it looked dull or scratched no matter what I did :/ We are a big family with 4 little ones. I lean towards champagne bronze finishes so think that a black or white sink would look good.

The cabinet hardware is Franklin brass and adjust to whatever the previous hardware size was. Easier for us as we DIY mostly everything. It does come in black too. SS with a black faucet and black cabinet hardware would look nice as well. I just love the gold with walnut look.

As for my cabinets, it’s what we have and are fine with them. I will also post a pic of the bathroom we did and changes on the exterior to help make this post more cohesive with our style.

Do you have several planks of the LVP to lay next to your cabinets?

I bought a box of the 2 engineered wood floors I was considering to be able to make the correct choice. The bigger the sample, the easier the decision!

This is before and where we are. Island is not finished. It will be slatted and drawers refaced. And My hubby will customize it to match the cabinetry stain. It will have two hanging pendant lights.

This is the bathroom we did so you can get better idea of our style.

Here is a pic of the lvp next to the cabinets and I will also include what black hardware would look like.

I think the matte porcelain will work and the bit of veining will help. As for floor color in kitchen, I don't know, there was a cork floor in ours when we moved in and you couldn't see Anything on it, but we still gave it a quick sweep or damp clean just about every day anyway. Not seeing the crumbs on it does not make them go away. But maybe an LVT that is black/dark grey would be easier on your legs in a kitchen than porcelain.

Especially with four little children, skip a black/dark floor- everything including water spots will show. It’s actually easier to keep a light/medium colored floor looking good.

Think the LVP sample you show looks good with your cabinets.

Palimpsest and pkpk23 - I had very black solid slate samples and that was a disaster lol. But the subtle veining and variation in the marble tile does disguise things! I am used to cleaning multiple times a day no matter what. So I can go either way. Just in certain lighting I wasn’t sure if the lvp looked too orange and the cabinets too red.

I mean, I like the black better ... but if you like the gold, you should go with what you like. The pulls you have in the old bathroom would be more my style (the pulls ... not so much the rest of it). I think black hardware and faucet would also work better with a black sink, like what's shown in your inspiration. If you want the gold hardware, you might be better off with a white or stainless sink (though it sounds like you're not a fan of stainless).

The old uppers is whatI would deem dated. What you've got now is a lovely upgrade. Any chance you're switching to a counter depth fridge? I think not having that protrude so far would really help (just have to make sure the doors open with the wall, as that can be a source of interference when no longer protruding into the room).

Thank you for your feedback blueberrybundtcake. We actually knocked out a built in pantry and scooted the fridge over and in so it looks built in now. And we have the cabinet to go over the fridge.

I'd highly recommend theKarran Q-340 Seamless Undermount Large Single Sink for a white Corian top. You cannot get a better more sanitary joint between the bottom of the top and the sink flange. No silicone, no crud, no maintainence ever. Here is a Karran in stainless, seam undermounted in a Corian top:

LVP, stainless sink, and black or silver hardware.

I have a Ruvati Workstation sink. I love it.

What are your backsplash plans?

Have you considered soapstone counters? I recently had them installed.

I like the LVP floor, stainless hdwe, stainless waterworks and a stainless steel sink.

Stainless sink, stainless hardware, stainless appliance = cohesion.

My two cents: I'm with you about stainless sinks looking grungy. The sink Joseph posted looks so beautiful. Mine must have been a different species, seriously, it probably was too inexpensive to hold up well.

Having said that, I currently have a single black sink and I love it. I think your black sink in a white counter will be fine and wouldn't worry about that choice.

I have shiny white quartz in a bathroom and had matte white Corian in our last home. They're both easy to care for, but the shiny shows water marks more.

I agree that your LVP is blah with your cabinets. Not a fan of the black marble either, seems very bathroomy.

Ana-I have read about soapstone and sounds nice. I think the cost is more. Budget wise we are tight so it’s corian or certain quartz within budget.

Barncatz-good to hear about your experience with both countertops. Which brand black sink did you get? I feel the same about the floors lol. LVP maybe better of the two. Someone else mentioned marble seeming more bathroom like. I can also explore dark LVT to mimic slate or something.

There was a light color tile I sampled too and liked. It happened to have negative reviews but I can re explore that if anything. But likely will go LVP since I can’t unsee bathroom floors with the marble lol.

This was the lighter tile, ignore the solid black.

I personally think a tile will be a better transition since your LVP clashes with your kitchen.

Eld6161- that was a great article. Thanks for sharing. I read Kylie Interiors for paint reviews and didn’t realize she had one on matching flooring and cabinets. In some pics my lvp looks good and in other pics my cabinets look too red. We will see…still contemplating and appreciative of all you Houzz people!

The Karran sinks can be seam undermounted in engineered stone, depsite what Karran recommends, however, I doubt your fabricator will be enthused. Acrylic sinks can be seam undermounted mounted in estone and look great. Get a nice undermount with a slight positive reveal and strap it in place please.

You say that as if somehow solid surface tops are inferior to estone and therefore should be less expensive. They are not.

I advocate for solid surfaces, but I acknowledge trade offs too. If you're into hard and shiny, granite is tough to beat. Estone is stronger than natural stone, after all it's 33% plastic, so it can be cantilevered further than natural stone without supports. Estone is difficult to repair inconspicuously; sintered nearly impossible. Granite can be repaired somewhat inconspicuously depending upon color, particulate, and movement; Corian repairs can be highly inconspicuous.

Joseph-thanks for all this info! I really appreciate it. And I don’t think solid surface is inferior. I think for a big family with littles there are lots of benefits to it. It’s kinda my first choice-and it comes in so many finishes. Cost wise I didn’t expect stone to be another option and wondered if worth looking into.

What do you guys think of this? And the tile floor? What’s crazy is that my inspo pics are all wood cabinets with wood floors, the tones don’t even match necessarily and it looks good. And just like replies in this post I can see the case for continuing my lvp or not at all.

Also in the pics is a sample of quartz marmie. Anyone have this for tops and can share a pic? I think I can see that or the white corian working well. And in these scenarios I will go for a Karran sink as Joseph mentioned-likely in white.

I have a single bowl stainless steel Kraus sink with a bottom grid. Didn't think that I would like the grid but, in practice, I have found that I love the grid. Once a week, I clean the sink with Bar Keeper's Friend, the liquid/ paste one, using a microfiber cloth. Removes the water spotting and restores the sink to like new condition.

The grid protects the bottom from scratches and a large single bowl gives you lots of room so the sides don't get scratched.

A scratched up stainless sink can be restored to like new condition.

Slap a 120 grit paper on a random orbital sander to remove scratches. You'll be there all day going by had starting at 1000 like in the above video. Follow the 120 with 220, 400, red and gray Scotchbrite pads all mechanical. 1/2 and hour and you can't screw it up.

After more thought today. I am sticking with white Corian countertops. And Joseph you mentioned the Karran brand. I had never seen a white workstation sink and came across this one. Have you ever installed this one? Like it?

I've installed plenty of workstation sinks, but not that particular one. Karran makes nice stuff. Get if if you like it.
