What budget are you thinking?

Thanks, Jinx! As far as budget, nothing terribly expensive but not cheap junk, either. Something along the lines of Pottery Barn pricing? Which I realize is kind of a range. Up to $500ish? If it's something really special (the right vintage/antique) I'd spend a little more. We will be in this house maybe 3 more years, then we are moving out of the area and not planning to take much with us so I'm hesitant to spend a lot. I've been shopping FB Marketplace, Craigslist and estate sales without any luck.

Jinx - Thanks for the compliment - it doesn't come easy and I've learned a lot here in the 20+ years I've been here. I love both of those tables!! I do think the black one is too tall, and while the mirrored one is tall, it could work. I noticed in the customer photos for it, it pretty much comes right up to or is a tiny bit taller than the sofa/chair arm. I don't mind suggestions for other things in the room, so thank you! I do think the black table would look so good next to the ticking stripe chairs, except I think they're too tall there, too, unfortunately.

I've always loved that round one at Ballard!! And you ARE helpful! My biggest issue is figuring out what shapes/colors look good with our coffee table, so even if your suggestions aren't the right size, they're still super helpful!

Thanks, guys! Jinx, I bookmarked that Uttermost table - I do like barley twist! - a couple of years ago after seeing it on Instagram. It would be perfect if not for the size. The other one is great, too - for some reason I've always been a sucker for faux bamboo furniture. I like it a lot, but would be more comfortable if it had some customer reviews. I'll have to read some reviews of some of their other products to get a good feel for the quality of their stuff.

DLM, ha! Those are two of my favorite things in the room. The chairs are old Crate and Barrel and I have had ticking stripe covers made a couple of times. The leather cube came from Home Goods maybe 5 years ago.

I am working on de-browning the room. Paint color will be next to go, and next year, we are getting rid of the carpet in favor of wood floor, and at the same time, re-doing the fireplace and getting art for above the mantel.

Jinx, the faux bamboo Safavieh table is nice! Love the bamboo. Not sure what I think about black glass. One of the reviews said the word "tempered" is etched into the glass in a 14pt font. What the heck?? No one else mentioned that so perhaps the one reviewer got a one off?

Thanks! Red kitty is Cheddar. He is a hair dropping monster. We could keep the square table, it just feels a little industrial and chunky. But we can certainly keep it there. It is 22 x 22.

I love your room! I think you're getting lots of help with end tables so I just thought I'd throw this out there. I think your coffee table would look gorgeous with a marble top. Something light to match the tones in the bookcases. I think you can have remnants cut for not much $$ - if the idea appeals to you. If it's cut a bit bigger than the wood top, the wood won't really show. Or like this one for $750 at PB, let the wood show.

Olychick, I do really like that PB coffee table - it's a tiny bit smaller than what we currently have but so pretty! I do like how the white would lighten the space. Our PB store has it on display and it's very nice.

Oooh now I want a marble slab for my coffee table. But even remnants can be pricey. I paid about $200 I think just for a radiator cover around 12” x 36”. I bet 42 round would be $500? Anyhoo, love your coffee table as is, too!

Thanks Sue! I guess it can't hurt to at least check it out. Maybe someone will have just the right remnant. But if it's that expensive, probably better to just buy the table with the marble already on it!

This one just popped up on our local FB Marketplace last night. I like that it is chunky to cover the bottom portion of my skinny lamp, and the color would work, but I'm not sure about the shape. Does this work in my more traditional space?

Most likely that martini table will be too small for a side table. I have one from West Elm and it is smaller.

I think you need a larger scale table like the one on the left of your photo. I like the round one that jinx posted. I would definitely scour Marketplace and any other good finds that are perhaps somewhat of an antique in that they are more solid and have interest.

Thanks, AK! The black table is 20" tall and 18" diameter. So probably a little too short, but I don't mind the diameter for that particular location - though it's probably going to look out of scale than a larger table on the left.

I really do like the round one Jinx posted so will keep looking for one like that - unfortunately, that one is a tad too tall. I really don't want a table taller than the couch arm, which is just over 24". I prefer side tables to be a bit lower than couch/chair arm. Will keep scouring Marketplace and elsewhere. I appreciate your advice!

Thanks, Mtn! I've been looking at those tables all day! The sizing would work and I love the style, but have two concerns: 1. Are they a tiny bit theme-y with my other stuff? I love to decorate in the summer with my collection of sea shells and glass floats, and of course I am a one-trick decorating pony in that everything is blue. I don't really want to have a theme. 2. My cats may shred the lower level, even though they are typically very good about leaving our furniture alone. I suppose if that happens, I could always replace the caning.

Arapaho, I didn't mention storage, but I could take it or leave it. It's not a requirement, but I might be able to put it to use if it's there.

Bbstx, that's a good idea! I would probably put books or something down there first until I had an idea if it would be a temptation, and then glass if necessary. We keep claws cut short and provide plenty of kitty-safe scratching places, so they're mostly good about not scratching the furniture.
