Can you use the lightest shade of SW Anonymous. Just have SW lighten it a little at a time to let you see the color it is (of courses, bear in mind it will be darker when dried and also darker on woodwork). Just get it light. That's my story and I am sticking to it. Or if you have not yet painted, use the darker color on the fireplace cabinets painted SW Anonymous and the fireplace a lighter shade of same. Or, paint them both Anonymous to make a large focal wall of fireplace and cabinets. I would not go off on too much of a tangent as far as color goes, because that room size is going to diminish considerably when you get it furnished and painted. In other words, not too many colors in one space, and that space is not that large though it may seem so until it is furnished and filled with 3 sons. Hi rhondamom.. I'm glad you liked the kitchen. I don't know if it is posted in the Finished Kitchen Blog. I just found it when she posted it on the forum in the thread. If you scroll down the thread, she gives a list of details. I think you could go with dark grey if you prefer. I personally love the contrast of the white and black. You say you have white tile counters and white appliances so I think they would look really nice with black. But it's a matter of preference. Shiny or matte? I think in a kitchen, it would be easier to clean painted sufaces that have a shiny finish rather than a matte finish. KA:)

Love the floor! Blues would be beautiful. You could consider two-toned with a navy on the bottom to contrast the light floor and a white on top to open the space and brighten it up. Some beautiful, but very different, blues. You could also go white on the perimeter and blue on the island. Always a beautiful combo that would look great with your floors. The white would brighten it up and the island would ground it.

IMO painting them a warm white will be grear, but before that i would work on decluttering the kitchen and think about removing all the stuff above the cabinets.I would do stainless pulls and faucet , with the new wood floor I would stay a bit lighter for the counter and maybe just use laminate instead of spending a huge amount of money for quartz or granite.If you can afford to have the cabinets painted professionally you might want to explore the opportunity to get you new cabinets and maybe rework the kitchen layout a bit since painting is a very expensive choice.
