Look for elements you like, like creamy white cabs, brownish granites, etc. Look also for light fixtures, window treatments, and general overall style that speaks to you. Use it for inspiration. I find it's must easier to see things I like than to try to figure out what I like all on my own. Something that many low-budget renovators have done is removed a few doors on cabinets, for open-shelving, or even removed a few upper cabinets, and added open shelves. This could work with a french-country style for sure. No doors: [traditional kitchen design[(https://www.houzz.com/photos/traditional-kitchen-ideas-phbr1-bp~t_709~s_2107) by san francisco architect Gast Architects open shelving: [traditional kitchen design[(https://www.houzz.com/photos/traditional-kitchen-ideas-phbr1-bp~t_709~s_2107) by new york interior designer Marlene Wangenheim AKBD, CAPS, Allied Member ASID [spaces design[(https://www.houzz.com/photos/home-design-ideas-phbr0-bp~) I painted my own kitchen cabinets, after living with them for 4 years. I wish I had done it the first year we lived here. It brightened up the room SO MUCH! I also removed ancient gross grimy hardware from half the cabs, and added new matching hardware to the whole kitchen (half of mine had no hardware at all either.) It was a cheap and easy change with huge dividends in my happiness :) I didn't change anything else yet, not the ripped sheet-vinyl flooring or the laminate counters. And I'm still happier when I walk into my bright and cheery white kitchen! Comments (4)You guys r so gr8, ,, thanks for responding:) It's just a tough decision.... But I think you are right olychick! Once painted it would b very difficult to go back. I just wasn't sure if light stain was "in" theses days... I have had that table for so long...would not mind a new one to tell the truth! Nosoccermom, thanks so much for the photos!! They r beautiful! No we haven't selected hardware until we decide the finish. If white was going to go with the cup style brushed nickle drawer handles & matching knobs on cabinets... But if stained light might go with something a little more contemporary, even though our house is a traditional 1976 model... Not sure if we should do that because may be selling it soon... Have to keep in mind the masses... Live wire, you r so right.. Little contrast in here... Guess I'm afraid... I love to paint& Contrast is what I struggle with in my paintings also! I think with the dark countertops (though not much of It) would that not be too much dark?? Plus since it is so open to living R that is mostly whites & tans ( one whole wall is a painted off white brick fireplace... Hmmm, I don't like Mid tone brown stains at all.. Reminds me of the 70 cabinets we had when we purchased this place... But DO like the Very dark almost black stains... Something to think about for sure......See MoreWhat wall color did you paint your kitchen with white cabinets?
Comments (42)BM London Fog. It looks great against our white cabinets and our quartz is VERY close to your color from what I can tell. The London Fog matches the background tone of the quartz nicely and the white cabinets give it a fresh, clean, updated look. Not the best picture because our deck outside casts a pink tone to our wall, but you can see the quartz, wall color and white door in this pic to see how they work together. Here is a better picture of the wall color over by the ovens and up against the cabinetry. It looks darker here than it typically does in the light of day....See Morelarkspur white kitchen what color paint is cabinets and what color are
