These are my favorites, but I am so nervous to paint the brick:

I have an all white clapboard 1920s storybook and I would give any thing to have your natural stone and brick! Your inspirations are sooo 2019 ”modern farmhouse” and quite soulless compared to your home! I love dark green with brick and stone. You could just do the door and trim with green.

Your Tudor is a classic. Please don’t destroy the character of this beauty. I’d like to direct you to an IG page of Tudors … all so charming. Now imagine them all whitewashed.

I’m begging you — if you want a trendy white house, find another, sell to someone who respects history and good architecture. Don’t ruin this grand old beauty permanently over a fad.

Brick should only be painted if it’s low grade or too ugly to keep as is. I posted some links in regards to what a nightmare it can be, as well as how it’s damaging to bricks.

@Jilly If we keep brick as is, a brighter white and dark gray trim okay? And what color do you suggest for the door? You've done a great job talking me out of painting the brick hehe

Hopefully the color experts will see and advise on trim and door. Lots of very talented posters who give great paint suggestions (and mock-ups). You might see ideas on that IG page, or other Tudor searches, too.

I think a new door color is a great idea to freshen her up, and will make you smile.

Cute, cute, cute! Suggest you get the entire front power washed. It's got years of pollution on it.

I would then leave it original, but paint the front door...something that correlates with the roof.

Replace the split rail fence with wrought iron. Trim the bushes a bit to get light into the room.

@elcieg I LOVE the idea of the orange door to compliment the roof. Thanks, trimming the bushes in on our list.

I looked at the IG page of Tudors that @Jilly posted (BTW, I've noticed that @Jilly regularly posts helpful content from the interweb, often providing sources or inspiration. Thanks, it really makes the threads useful and interesting.)

Anyway, I loved the Tudors and now I want one. Does anyone else, especially the OP, @Kate Flanagan, think painting the stucco a warmer tone pulled from the stone might be a possibility? I agree about leaving the brick but I also see the front facade disparity that was OP's starting point.

i see what you are saying, darken the stucco a tad so it's not so much a stand out element. I do like that idea. Something to consider!

I agree with darkening the stucco a bit. The house is beautiful. I dont think you will ever get all the colors right with it though, until it is time for a roof redo. The roof is entirely the wrong color. A darker brownish color closer to the color of the brick, would look so much nicer. The sidewalk, while very very nice, is another thing, that really does not go with your house, unfortunately. I would never paint the brick, that would be forerver. A roof, can be replaced down the road, since they are never forever. The stone between the steps, could be stained a bit more the color of the stone on the house too. Way too many things, that just do not go together. Oh as to the trim, a dark brown like on eves of the brick part, would go better. You just have too many things going on there, and grays are the parts to eliminate.

@cat_ky I know what you mean, but I think the roof is forever :) Every few years we replace a few shingles, but they are thick clay and will probably never fail. I am hoping a really good powerwash will lighten the brick, and then a slightly darker shade on the stucco will tie it all together better. Maybe an orange door, not sure, I was thinking more seafoam green but then that's just adding another color to my chaos. Love the recommendations, keep them coming, It's being painted 2nd week in June and I will share the after photos with all.

@barncatz was this what you were thinking for the stucco? I think the greenish/grayish tone might work well with the orange roof. Its BM Sea Forth

Totally different direction but i do really love dark green with brick. This is one of my favorite cottage houses

@Kate Flanagan, I wasn't thinking contrast. I would probably use a color identification tool like SW Color Snap app - if I have the name right - and apply it to the stone and see what paint colors SW says are matches.

Looking at tudors, I started to wonder how some simple gable shingles or banding on the stucco might look, i.e. maybe it's not the color that's off balance as much as the lack of accent details/weight on the left.

Since I'm spending your money, I mused about installing a belly board/framing board above the left window and painting the stucco area below it a darker tone from the stone, leaving the dormer stucco area the current color?

By the way, your house is just beautiful. I think you could leave it and have a prettier house than a baskillion others.
