What to do with Stainless Steel Countertop?
Comments (5)Stainless steel isnt cheap but unless someone has the right size counter, it's not gonna fit. Put a for sale sign on it, set it buy your trash can. If you get lucky, somebody will steal it. Then they will have the problems figuring out what to do with it....See MoreWhat adhesive for stainless steel to CDX plywood countertop?
Comments (2)Your plywood to stainless steel? PL Premium. I might spread it out with some kind of disposable notched trowel. Clamp or weight the sink to the wood. Leave it for a good 24 hours to set up. Wear disposable gloves and work on a protected surface. The stuff doesn't not come off easily once cured and only with mineral spirits before that....See MoreStainless steel countertops but what backsplash?
Comments (3)We did tile as a backsplash for one (no photos--Motawi in a A&C style that is discontinued which wasn't all off for a house built in the '20s) and a grey marble slab for another. We DID do the stainless stub of an integrated 'splash on most on those as well. Glass would be very nice in there. The 4" 'splash you have now makes it look sort of squatty (maybe it's the angle) so that is something to keep in mind. I'd consider doing your island in the same material as backsplash, if it's a reasonable material for an island of course!...See MoreStainless Steel Countertops
Comments (17)Our stainless countertop will *hopefully* be in in a week to two weeks. So tired of waiting! Our kitchen island has a stainless top. Due to getting a stainless counter and not wanting to be too matchy-matchy, we're replacing that stainless top w/ butcher block (and to warm the place up a bit) but my point is that the 8 or so years we've had w/ the stainless island top have been FABULOUS DAHLING. It's hard to scratch in any noticeable way (beyond the tiny light scratches which are the patina for lack of a better word) - which is to say most people don't think to just start cutting on it and they'd have to cut pretty hard I think, to hurt it - and it doesn't easily dent unless you get the cheapest option (18 gauge, I think. You want to get 14 gauge which is tougher) and it's reflective and bounces light around beautifully. It's like a chameleon - it changes appearance depending on wall and ceiling colors and lighting and time of day. If you're going for the more period look, it looks so nice w/ marble and wood. Bla bla bla...I'm always sticking out my two thumbs up re. stainless countertops...kind of a broken record here! Lol! Let's just wait and see how much I like it when it's IN!! ;)...See MoreCora Beli
