Help with new home living room layout

Greetings! I'm looking for help in laying out our new home.. Current furniture may or may not stay. The living room is 16.5x19.5 with high ceiling. I do NOT like a tv above the fireplace (too high for my eyes), so we are thinking of building a wall unit where the TV is currently sitting on entry table....although I'm not opposed to a long console for tv. Our couch is a Robin Bruce slipcover, and I'd like to keep it, but it can be moved to upstairs bonus room if needed. Would a sectional be more appropriate here? I'm just not sure how to cozy this up.

I love peacocks, and the feather prints below are going to be my color inspiration. I would like pops of color in pillows and drapes to tie living/dining room together. I obviously need a new dining room table/chairs too! :-)

Any suggestions for furniture layout, lighting, pros/cons of wall unit vs console for tv? This will be our main living room as the upstairs bonus will be more of a playroom for grandkids. We're putting a fresh coat of paint on everything next month (I'm leaning toward Colonnade grey from SW?). Thank you in advance for any suggestions.

How about the feather prints over the FP. Some pillows in colors from the prints and change the throw to blue or green Try console table on wall behind sofa and get a more substantial TV console that is 25% wider than the TV. I would put panels on all the windows that are the same color as the trim. Get your color pops in the accessories.

There would be enough space on that wall. My concerns were placing the sofa against the windows. Since the windows are very low (Down to about 1' to the ground), a 37" high sofa would block 2 feet of window height. Depending on how far into the room the sofa is, that would take 2' off of 2-4 windows. (The window location in the render is not 100% accurate, but if you look at the picture, it'll likely cover all 4 windows) In addition, those windows go to the backyard, which we would get afternoon & evening sun from. We were concerned about having a lot of glare from the sun if we put the TV opposite of the windows.

^I like showing this insp pic because it shows the best proportions for the console relative to the TV size. Long console as mentioned by jck910. You have several seating options, one mentioned by jck910 or you can leave the (new) couch facing the TV as shown above with two chairs off the wall and on an area rug. The idea of one or two ottomans in place of a coffee table is a great idea. A rug will ground the space. I also like the idea of a buffet or sofa table behind the couch if you are floating it as shown above because your dining is right behind the living area. I wouldn't do a sectional. They limit your possibilities for furniture arrangement. You have many more options to move chairs and sofa than finding room with a sectional. JMO

Please think carefully about French doors. They take valuable floor space and adversely affect furniture arrangement. Do yourself a favor: use brown paper or newspaper to cut the half circle pattern opening and closing a door will take. Double that to represent the French door pattern and lay them on the floor where you plan your French doors. I agree they are elegant, but I had a pair in a breakfast room and daily resented the useless wall space on either side.

The idea with the cushions is amazing it is possible to combine a TV wall with cladding that will add color with the cushions. The rustic look looks beautifully warm and cozy.

Congrats on the new place! If you can swing built ins with some cool lighting at the top and the shelving - thats my recommendation for the tv wall. If done right, it will be your best use of storage and is a stunner and will always get your money back if you plan on ever moving again. I would also recommend a new fan. I love your idea of getting some kind of window treatment - maybe do a fun but neutral pattern? Unless you're interested in adding a bit of bold - dark like a warm charcoal or deep brown - that might work with your ottoman. Is that staying? Stick with warm pallete to go with your existing stuff. Does the current furn layout work for you? I dont mind the style and sizes of what you have...but for sure a sectional would look better...as long as the flow works out...it seems like it should with your openings. Hope that helps!

Thank you for your comments!! Good idea on lighting at top! I hadn't thought of that. I also had to look up what "cladding" meant, and I love that idea!!!
