I actually think that doing all pulls would look nice with your cabinets. To me, it's a rather traditional door style and knobs would only add to that traditional look whereas pulls may take it more towards the non-traditional feel you're trying to achieve. My only recommendation about pulls is that you get some samples to feel in your hand and make sure you're happy with how many fingers you can easily wrap under. Most standard pulls are 3" long and I found them to be too narrow for my comfort. Yours are just a little over 3" center-to-center, so might work fine. I originally wanted knobs on my cabinets and pulls on my drawers, too, but in the end, decided for a more uniform look and put pulls on everything in 2 lengths (also used Amerock). For what it's worth, one of the most common things I hear from friends seeing my new kitchen is about how unexpected it is to see pulls on cabinet doors but that it can also work so well. I think those built ins are lovely! You don't need just general storage? Camping gear, holiday decorations, etc? That's a great place for a litter box. Do you not want to see it? I think it's fine the way it is... that's life with a cat. If you need bookshelves, you could put some up in the area above the litter box where the cushion is. When you've recovered from your recent projects, maybe you'll feel motivated to fix these up like the built ins in your hallway. For now, I think they're fine the way they are and add value to what is probably a very charming house; I wish our house had special features like this!

Uh-oh. I spent my morning looking for pulls like the first one pictured. I have accidentally bumped into trendy (again!) without meaning to. Our 1936 house came with glass knobs and window pulls that look like the RH stuff and I was hoping to pick something similar for our new kitchen/addition. From what I can see, lots of manufacturers produce similar pulls, usually called window lifts, sash pulls or utility pulls. Some are cheaper coated zinc but the better and more expensive ones are solid brass and can be found plated in different finishes, which varies by manufacturer. You need to try different search terms to find them online because different manufacturers call them different names, but generally they are intended for window hardware, not kitchen cabinets, so if you look at a manufacturer or hardware site under a cabinet hardware subheading they won't show up. So far I have found similar pulls made by Baldwin (solid brass), Samuel Heath (UK), Schlage (solid brass), Croft (UK), Ives, Rocky Mountain, Merit Metal (solid brass), Brass Accents and Deltana (solid brass). One of these may be the actual manufacturer for RH. Some are less expensive than RH, like Schlage and Ives, some are similar, like Baldwin. I don't know why Deltana is so pricey but maybe somebody else can shed light on this company and why it charges more. For the larger sizes, look for what are called cabin door pulls. Merit Metal has some great looking ones, though not cheap. It seems like hardware meant for marine use has to be sturdier, so I have found some great-looking hardware at sites selling to boat and yacht owners (cool lighting for bathrooms, too). I haven't gotten to the glass knob matching yet, so if anybody has done research on those maybe we can start a different thread.

I am close to getting our pulls figured out. I ordered a few samples of my favorites, and narrowed it down; then it was to decide on sizes. I'm trying them out on our existing cabinets, but the style of the new ones won't be terribly different, so it should work out. We have lived without door hardware for 25 years, so putting anything on the doors looks odd to us. I'm still torn between vertical and horizontal on my uppers. I've gone through a lot of 2-sided tape, sticking pulls to doors! I'm going horizontal on the few base cabinet doors that I have - trash pullout, sink cab, lazy susan door, and that seems right to me, so I can't figure why it doesn't quite look right on the uppers. I have one drawer stack that's 34" wide; the top will be 2 17"-wide drawers, so I'm putting two pulls each on the deep drawers. I'm torn between putting one or two pulls on the sink tip-out (30" cabinet).
