Pendant lighting over sink, different from over peninsula?
Comments (2)What's the wattage of the mosaic mini pendant? I would think using the light that mimics your vent hood would probably look okay if the sink isn't too close to the peninsula, assuming the wattage is high enough of course. The only concern I would have is a pendant over me instead of over the sink area; might not give appropriate light. Is the vent working? If not, could you take it out? Or maybe doing two smaller recessed lights on either side of that vent (depending how big it is across your sink area) would work better; then you would have the light properly over the sink? Hope those thoughts are of some help......See MorePendant Lights Above Island with Short Ceiling
Comments (65)@Porter, I didn't get the LED Edison bulbs yet-the store where we got the pendants gave me 3 halogen bulbs to see if it was better for me as I didn't like the yellow light at all. I am still going to order them when I do a Prime order to see the difference. That fixture is in a nook--off centered from the pendants--it comes with a chain ;however I am undecided if a table is going to go there or it will stay open, so had it semi-flush mounted. Does it look odd or out of place? @Beth, Right now they are 34" so when the quartz is installed, it should be about 32 33" from counter to bottom of lights. They seem high, but any lower they are going to be in our eyes....See MoreWhat size pendant light for over the sink?
Comments (7)It's 25 percent of the view lost, and a head banger. I detest pendants in front of a sink window unless no other method, and a flush mount or recessed situation is better, almost always. You lean over a sink all the time........the reason no cabinets are place above : ) You would have to hang that so high, the "pendant" effect would be lost. Look for something you can love in a FLUSH mount.,,,,,,don't block the view.Or add recessed, and save the dangles for island or table in the kitchen....See MorePendant lights above island or no?
Comments (10)I would have taken the opportunity to remove that 3-light bulb fixture completely. Can't tell from the pics but are there only 3 cans lights in the entire kitchen? You need more lighting & the best lighting comes with a variety of light options...recessed lights, sconces if that works, under cabinet, etc. I like the look of no pendants over the island if that complements one's kitchen. In your case, not only do you need the extra lighting that pendents can afford but you need some "character" as another Houzzer suggested. I can think of a dozen options that would work but also dependent on the style you want to maintain. How about an industrial look fixture with a colored (metal) shade; bring in another metal, something in copper...anything to add omph to a B/W kitchen....See MoreRelated Professionals
