Japanese Maple won’t break dormancy after being in warm house

I bought 4 japanese maples last fall and kept them in my office until this spring. I brought them outside about a month ago now that the weather is warm, but 2 didn’t break dormancy (But they are alive— scratch test)

I did some research and read japanese maples need 24 days of temps 40 and below. Well, I messed that up…

So is there any way to fix this? Should I put them in the fridge for the next 3 weeks and then put them back in the yard and see if that helps.

thank you for any advice!
