Delta. I'm platinum medallion with them. They're the best in terms of service, cleanliness, and staff helpfulness/attitude.

Each airline seems to have its own idea of how much or how little space to provide between rows - which affects taller people like me and not others - I think the differences between US airlines are more imagined than real. I've flown probably all of them and when comparing like to like, I think there's little difference.

For overseas flights (literally overseas, not flights to our adjacent land-bordered neighbors) I prefer foreign airlines. Food, service, comfort, all seem better. Maybe similarly, differences are more imagined than real but when I think of the very best flights I've had, most have been on foreign airlines. Flights I remember as being much above par have been on the upper decks of 747s and A380s, both terrific planes.

Edit to add - relative to mine2x's comment, some people seem to rave in particular about both Delta and Alaskan Airlines for some reason. I've flown both a fair amount, have had good and bad experiences with both, no more or less than with others.

For a domestic or North American flight, Alaska Airlines hands down. For an overseas flight, like Elmer, I too have found the foreign airlines are pretty impressive.

Depending on where you're going, whichever US airline has a codeshare with the foreign carrier. For example, AA/British Airways, Delta/Air France, and United/Lufthansa. I always enjoy getting a taste of the country en route.

I always check first to see if Jetblue goes there. If it does, that's my airline of choice. I've had excellent customer service experiences with them. The people working for them just seem smarter and happier in their job. I have a ton of travel points on American from my credit card that I should use, but AA Advantage never seems to have flights available. I should probably switch credit cards for points on Jetblue because those are easy (too easy!) to cash in.

I am amazed you had options. Usually my travel days, lay overs preferred determine which airline provides what I want. In the end the big three are very much a tomato tomatoe choice. Brother is a pilot for United, bffs husband flies for Delta...go with what works!

Whoever offers the best price. Including luggage prices.

Our family hasn't been happy with British Airlines—too many problems. United has worked ok for a trip to Europe a few years ago, but we opted (paid) for more leg room.

I also bought insurance with the flight, which I've never done before. I like that Delta has a specific place to store your overhead luggage right over your seat for upgraded seats too. I hate having to scramble around for an overhead bin in the main cabin. Hopefully it will be worth the extra cost not to be crammed in like a sardine.

I always fly Air France to Europe. Going to New Zealand, Air Tahiti Nui.

I usually only fly to the Caribbean. I've taken different airlines. The best was Jet Blue the worse was American when it was still US air.
