Bedrosian Cloe tile lippage?

I'd like to use this as my backsplash. I've seen many beautiful pictures of this tile but sometimes the install looks uneven. It's not that they aren't straight it's more that some protrude out more then others. It seems this is called lippage. Those that have this tile, how did your installer keep it level? Did they use a tile leveling system to prevent this?

Unless those tiles are *really* warped, that looks like a terrible install.

A good installer can make wonky hand made tiles look good, they simply widen the grout lines just a bit to compensate for wonky/irregular tiles. Cloe tiles are not that irregular, so this is just a bad installer.

Jolene. Tilebar has the Portmore, which is very similiar. (HomeDepot and Wayfair carry it under their IvyHill line) So you're building a new home and paying people to do the home like you want, and you aren't allowed to use certain tile? her tile guy will "only do certain tile" ?? sounds like her tile guy (and her) get a monetary incentive to use a certain company. If you purchase the tile yourself, w/your money on your dime, and have it at the new build, will they install it? How about you just don't do a backsplash, move in, and hire a tile person to install the tile you want? For your bathroom shower, I guess you'll have to pick something else. Or, advise your builder you want a diff tile contractor. This is so ridiculous. If I'm paying people to build my home, they better use the materials I want. (unless this is a tract home?? ) BTW, any further questions, please start your own post.

I found the tile installer from someone posting pictures of their new backsplash. This person let me see in person the same tile installed in their kitchen and I went with their recommended installer. He has 20+ years of experience. Unfortunately I didn't inspect their kitchen really closely. I didn't want to be disrespectful. I had talked with 4 other installers and this was the first one I'd seen their work in person. I've been reading all the discussions on Houzz about this tile and asked questions about lippage, edging and grout spacing/color. So many people said they had no problems with lippage and recommended just bumping the tile together which leaves about 1/16 in. I decided that if so many found that that was what worked I'd go for it. Unfortunately I didn't see any red flags until mid installation when I came in to see the progress. Seeing the schluter cut so awkwardly was the clue that maybe I wasn't going to get a problem free install I'd hoped for.

Sorry to say, this is not good. DH, is not a pro, but ours turned out perfectly. No spacers needes with this tile

I wondered if they were just bad installs or just prone to lippage. Here's a couple more

Definitely bad installs. We have square cloe in our kitchen and subway cloe in guest bath and it looks great. The tile is slightly irregular but looks nothing like those terrible install photos when installed correctly.

Just to be clear, none of these are my kitchen. They are just pictures I've seen of this tile. I would like to install it in my kitchen, but have concerns about these examples of lippage.

You need a whole lot larger grout lines for a start. You also need to order much more than 10% extra and cull out the really wonky ones. More like 30% more. And you need the layout gridded out instead of using spacers. Spacers don’t work with varying width irregular tiles. Wedges do. If the person using them knows a thing or two. They won’t be the $500 crackhead. They will be the 2K minimum actual professional who has a 6 month wait list. Your project just turned into the 5K backsplash.

@CT, I don't believe so. Ours are stacked, not staggered, not sure if that makes a difference. There are definitely small spots where it is slightly irregular, but in the good "non-perfecf" way.
