Prepping for spring and ready for the alphabet
Comments (36)Ludi, thank you for the encouraging words which made me persevere until I discovered the problem. The "embed" text persisted instead of html, until I returned the size back to "original" and now I'm no longer frustrated. Let me see if I can show a couple other shots. A guy on Flickr commented that he'd never seen my garden in such disarray.....was I feeling okay? I thought that was funny. Nothing that the arrival of spring won't cure. I really must get things orderly, but I was "nesting" the pots to keep squirrels at bay. Tonight there is dense fog, and my hair hangs as limp in the humidity (96%) as if I had endured a steam bath. Now wind is moving the chimes by the deck, which lets me see the wind. The spanish moss is pitching around too, like waves in a ragged sea. It only now dipped to a low of 69F....See MoreHosta I 2014
Comments (62)Gary: I think I got this one from my sister and after extensive research LOL the best I could come up with was Inniswood. My sister was not into the names when she bought it. My TimberPress Pocket Guide to Hostas says that Inniswood leaves unfurl dark green and the bright, golden yellow central variegation take some weeks to develop. I recall noting this and checking this past spring and I really wouldn't have called the leaves on mine dark green in the spring. Which made me question the ID. Your three are great suggestions and I will have to do some comparisons of my pics in the early spring. Will probably post them here and ask others about the three suggestions you made. Thanks Barb...See MoreHosta A 2016
Comments (51)plantaginea 'Athena' has an incredible, fragrant flower. It flowers reliably unlike plantaginea 'Venus', which rarely flowers. 'Athena' is a streaked Hosta; however most of mine have reverted to a solid green. I keep the green ones because of the incredible flowers....See MoreHosta I 2019 .......
Comments (62)dj, that's a second year 'Apple Candy' in front, so bright in the spring it's hard to get a pic without the washout effect. Anxious to see if it leaps this year. zkathy, I believe those hakones are at least 5 yrs old. They seem to grow very well for me in my heavy, dryish, clayish, soil. Nice 'Icy Halo' beverly, hope my newbie grows as nice....See Morenewhostalady Z6 ON, Canada
