Ideas to keep sun off this window?
Comments (4)One of the crabapples, selected for size, color of flowers/leaves, color and persistence of fruits AND for disease resistance, might be just the thing. Another thought might be a Japanese Maple, one of the taller ones, although that might be too much sun for a JM. Several other maples will stay small - Acer ginnala/Amur maple; A. griseum/paperbark maple; A. tatari8cum/Tatarian maple. If hardy that far north, Shantung maple might also work. A tree lilac - if you like the scent of the flowers - would stay fairly narrow. Amelanchier/Juneberry/service berry might eventually get too tall, but would cast a nice light shade, flower in spring, give berries the birds might share in June, and has decent fall foliage. Carefully chosen, one of the clumping bamboos might be very nice - exotic and different. It would be evergreen. In full sun, redbud would probably stay small enough for your wants - you have several cultivars, with varying leaf color and flower color to choose. Fringe tree is another spring-flowering tree with good fall color - no fruit to speak of. Smoke tree, esp. if limbed up on a selected specimen, could be very nice - again, there are several leaf and flower colors to opt from....See MoreWhat are the best window treatments for a sun room?
Comments (3)Really solar shades are the perfect answer they allow your view and keep out heat and UV rays the only thing is they are not privacy at night so I usually mix them with drapes if privacy is an issue....See MoreUnusual living room shape with 3 sides of windows!! Looking for ideas!
Comments (30)If tufted part faced the cooking/counter [leaving room of course to cook] -- place fabric/ throw over the back - washable if you cook much! ------- midcentury modern look created by its tapered legs and minimalist lines. The navy blue, color-fast, fade-resistant upholstery is accented with button-tufted details along the seat, backrest and cushions, creating visual interest. Simple yet elegant, the backrest folds down into a comfortable bed with a resilient 6-inch pocket spring mattress. Comments (7)Leave the windows alone but: Take the tall plant that is at the right of the fireplace and relocate it to the window, close to the door.. Take the table and lamp now in the window and put it where the tall plant was. Take the plant stand and vase out of the stair landing and put the stand next to the tall plant near the door, but replace the vase with a low houseplant that likes light. Take everything off the mantel and hang your mirror horizontally. Arrange all the leftover decorative objects into the cubbies on the left of your fireplace and on the coffee table. Put a rug under your furniture the same colors as your sofa pillows. (This is a steal if it’s the right size) Your room might be best with a decorative print over the mantle, not a mirror. An old fashioned round, oval or hourglass shaped mirror might look nice on the landing of your stairs...See MoreYun Kim
