I recently acquired one of these charming little plants and found the following information on various pages on the Net. I'm hoping I'll have decent luck with it ! Hope some or any of what I found is helpful to anyone else trying to grow it. Hope also the information I have copied here doesn't take up too much space. Cultivation Details. Requires a light well-drained soil in semi-shade and shelter from cold winds. Plants are intolerant of excessive winter wet. A prostrate mat-forming plant that forms roots at the nodes of stems, it grows well in a rock garden in areas where frosts are light and short-lived. It is almost hardy in Britain, merely covering it with a pane of glass in the winter is usually ample protection. Propagation Seed - sow in spring in a shaded part of a cool greenhouse or cold frame. When they are large enough to handle, prick the seedlings out into individual pots and grow them on in a lightly shaded position in the greenhouse for at least their first winter. Plant them out into their permanent positions in late spring or early summer, after the last expected frosts. Consider giving the plants some protection from the cold for their first winter outdoors. Division in spring. NERTERA Granadensis, also known as Nertera Depressa Origin - mountain regions of Central/South America, New Zealand, Tazmania Family - Rubiaceae Care Tips Will not bear much fruit if too warm or not enough light. Cool sunny position or south facing windowsill ideal. Can go outdoors in sheltered spot for summers. Keep moist throughout spring and summer, allow to dry between waterings in autumn, winter. Feed monthly with weak fertilizer spring/summer until berries begin forming. Zones 9b - 11. Nertera granadensis - ( Mutis ex L.f.) Druce Family: Rubiaceae Common names: Bead Plant, Pin Cushion Plant, Coral Bead Plant Origin: South America, New Zealand and Tasmani Flowering: Summer - White Height: 10cm (4in.) Width: 4 cm (2in.) Temperature: They make excellent indoor plants in cooler climates, they require cool tempertures to produce flowers usually around 10-12°C (52-56°F) Light: Place in a semi-shaded position Watering: During the spring and summer keep plant moist at all times. In autumn and winter allow plant to dry almost out between watering. Humidity: This plant need high humidity to flower. Propagation: Seed should be sown early spring (kept at a temp above 18ºC / 64ºF) Care&Tips: Best if planted in a "gritty" open soil mix which retains moisture. you said: Ken, I'm sorry for being presumptuous i have no idea why you are apologizing .. and i was just trying to help ... so if you are sensing something between the lines.. note my typing style.. and be sure ... that there is nothing between the lines.. lol think of trees on a continuum .. reaching for a century or two .. and understand.. that there really isnt much you need to do for them ... they have a multitude of defenses .. and really dont need our help ... and finally .... think of a tree as twice as big below ground as above ground [perhaps an exaggeration ]... and give me odds on someones actual ability to put a product where a feeder root is ... not those big roots near the trunk .. i mean the feeding tips.. that are most likely half way across the street or the neighbors lawn ... the tree may fail due to the root damage.. so be it .. and that may be.. in the 2 century continuum ... NOT in your lifetime .... if and when it does .... use the money to remove it .. rather than using it on foo foo applications [read that profit making for the seller] ... in my world .... spend once.. dont spend once on questionable fixes.. and again.. when it fails anyway ... have a great day .. ken PS: if it is close to the house... and the roots taken off are away from the house.. and the prevailing winds are toward the house ... i would remove if there is a chance it can fall onto the house ... oak is great firewood and great woodchip mulch ... this spring might be the time to plant a replacement or two ... so that in 5 years.. if it has to be removed.. you have a leg up on a new one ...

With the economy as it is ,the students who can no longer afford the highest tier schools, have bumped down a notch creating more competition for the lower tier schools. Also, high ranked state schools are accepting more out of state students who can pay full tuition. That being said, if you chose wisely and it seems like your daughter did, you have nothing to be worried about. It's highly unlikely that she will be rejected from every school she applied to.

If you are my age or more (I'm in my 50s) I think you will be much more satisfied with traditional linear (tube) fluorescent fixtures on the ceiling. No matter what kind of lamp you put in a recessed can, it still makes strong shadows, but a linear fluorescent has a large radiating surface to produce much more even light and softer shadows. This makes a very substantial difference as your eyes age. Definitely use high-CRI T8 lamps and electronic ballasts. Dimming ballasts are, regrettably, still fairly expensive, but a nice luxury if you can afford them. A sensible low cost alternative is to use multiballast fixtures and have 2 or 3 switched levels of light.
