Oh, OK. Just wondering. Aren't these some cold snaps we are having this year across America! I see the forecast for my area is for a high of 40 degrees on Saturday and a low of MINUS 2 on Sunday. Sure hope my roses are up for that--cuz I'm not going out there in that cold and snow to rescue them! About Belinda's Dream, my neighbor spaded hers due to BS problems--or so she thought; leaf problems at any rate. I don't remember if there were certain seasons that were particularly bad, but I know she is angry at roses in general for "lying" to her about the disease-resistance of Belinda's Dream. Then she was "betrayed" by her Knock Out getting RRD. She has since dug up all her roses (about 6 of them) and swears she will never grow another one ever again! I always wonder when gardeners take it so personally about their roses--but accept that other plants will have problems from time to time. Kate

Thanks for the quick responses! :) I haven't been able to spot any critters on the leaves(? fronds? branches? not so sure about terminology here!) so far. The cactus pictured is an Epiphyllum - I just did some research and identified it. Whatever is going on with it is also affecting my Euphorbia milii - there are little brown spots and holes appearing on some of the lower leaves. I water them sparingly with room temperature water and allow it to run through. They're located close to a window in my kitchen... I don't think it's too drafty there but I could be wrong. Judging from the pencil cactus form, it need much more light to be happy. The segments are spindly from all the shade. Can you describe the soil? It needs to be a fast draining mix. Lots of perlite, or grit. It loo;s really black, rich and bad for a Euphorbia. Once you decide on a soil, one cuts off the rotted roots and let the cutting callus or get hard on the end. a week is a good time. then you stick it in the soil, and mist it. Do not water it. Mist it. At this time of year, your plant is probably going into dormance and it will not root till spring. One can pile some rocks around it to hold it up, but , with that height and thinness of the stem, one miight have to devise a means of propping. I have never rooted anything in the cold north so maybe one should wait to see if others from north of the sunbelt/Mason Dixie line has some pointers. I am still in the 90's and we are headed into a growth cycle. I imagine that rot is harder to avoid in your situation. I would make the soil very gritty. Pine bark, perlite, cjicken grit or Cactus soil and at least equal parts chunky perlite. Not the fine dusty stuff the big box stores sell.

We are dealing with 3 issues here. 1- Yellowing Leaves: As long as it starts from the very lowest, that is normal and I would prune all such leaves as not only they won't make e any contribution but might be a haven for disease. So I remove any/and all of them. 2- Not Getting Ripe Tomatoes: (a) BW is very sentimental . I had one in 2013 that I did not even get a single ripe fruit off of it. But any ordinay tomato variety, (even late one) should've produce ripe fruits by now if you planted them in March. It has been more than 120 days. Now the question is : Are there green ones on any of your plants ? Have you been having temps over 95F alot ? Some varieties just wont set at temps 94F and higher. Another reason for lack of fruiting it too much ferts or improper type of ferts. Too much Nitrogen can cause blossom drop/abortion. I see in one of the picture in the link provided, showing crisping edges. That is often associated with high Nitrogen feeding. It is amazing, plants fruit most when deprived of nutrients. Too much nutrients often encourage just lots of foliage growth. I think probably I am guilty of over fertilizing myself. LIVE AND LEARN !! 3_ Rotting Fruits: It looks like BER. And it is often caused by inconsistent moisture level. DRY >>> over water >>> DRY ( cycle). Of course, there are other causes of rotting too, such as injuries caused by insects and pests. Sey
