Recently treated child who went through a glass patio door. Parent (who attended a course) may have saved childs life by applying a tourniquet to bleeding extremity.

Recently Repotted Plants Have Roots Coming Out Bottom! Help!
Comments (10)Last weekend I was checking my plants to see if any needed repotted before being brought inside for winter soon, and MOST of them did, after being root pruned (severely in most cases, that 's just how I roll) and repotted just this spring. The pots were almost all full of extensive roots with nowhere left to grow. Feel like I'm having trouble finding stability, and it looks like most of these plants would grow roots to China in a short time if the pot bottoms weren't blocking their way. Until very recently, I considered once per year as repotting quite often. I like to think I've gotten better at making a mix the plants like, which seems to be true from looking at these roots, but am wondering if there's a "sweet spot" I'm missing? Can I keep the plants as happy but slow the root growth down? Probably not. Either I need to accept bi-yearly repotting or get more ridiculously huge pots. I already often get comments on my pics like, "that pot may be too big for that plant." How can that be if it's full of roots and the roots are coming out of the drain holes? Comments (27)To start a leaf cut it from your plant leaving about an inch of the petiole (leaf stem). Take the leaf from the middle row of the violet. The outer row is beginning to age, and while they can produce babies, they lack the vigor of the younger middle row and may take longer to produce babies. The new leaves are immature. Make the cut at an angle with the long section of the angle at the back of the leaf and the short in the front. Leaves will produce without this angle cut, it just helps the babies to come up at the front of the leaf rather than the back where they will be in the mother leaf's shadow. Plant the leaf in a light mix-some use the 1/3 peat, 1/3 vermiculite, 1/3 perlite mix. Some use just perlite. I've used both successfully. Put the leaf in a baggie or a dome. You are, in effect, making a mini greenhouse. Put in good light, not sun, and then-practice patience! Keep an eye on your leaf and water as needed. You probably won't need to water much because the baggie helps prevent water evaporation and retains humidity. Leaves will vary in the time they take to produce babies. The shortest I've had was 10 days. The longest about 6 months. As long as the leaf is healthy, it can produce babies. Comments (10)My husband fell last night and I never heard it. He came into the bedroom and asked if I could look at the back of his head as it felt like a bug was on him. I got up and turned him around and he had two towels of blood dripping down his back. I took them off and it gushed blood so I was far from the phone but close to fabric, I took a book and towel and pressed it on the wound which was a long wide gash. Then I ran to get the phone but told him to keep pressing on the book. I was gone for ten seconds it seems. Got back and continued until the FD was in the bedroom. They were amazed that I used what was close as most people panicked. He's okay now, has a concussion, and has many sutures. He has Alzheimer's and doesn't remember what happened.
