Comments (41)Wooo!!! Cat, I am stuck at home because of the snow storm so wandered around here not looking at anything in particular and came upon your thread. I totally agree with you on the shower curtain choice. Regardless of whether I have the money to spare or not, keeping those suckers clean is a nuisance over time. We have a glass shower door that was installed back in 2003 and I can't tell you how much I hate cleaning it. Not that the door is all that dirty, but a shower curtain is way easier, and you can change the look/style whenever you feel like it. Can't do that with a pricey shower door. Anyway, everything looks lovely as usual, including the "prom" dress :-) Love, love those circular tiles, and the floor tiles that look like fabric. Gorgeous. What colour is that again? It looks greyish on my monitor....See MoreReview my bathroom floorplans (master bath, and also guest/powder)
Comments (51)I think a large family room is a good idea. I like that you are doing a larger shower instead of a shower and tub. We recently moved from the snow belt where we lived over 30 years. The newer houses had 3 car garages, but in almost every garage, there were only two cars and sometimes one. People tend to store "stuff" in the garage. (We are guilty too). In our house we built 15 years ago, we did a 2 1/2 car garage with extra space in the rear. I would choose more room in the house and do a oversized two car garage, but make the garage extra wide and deep. Some of the 3 car garages have no storage on the sides or in the back. Therefore the 3rd stall is all storage. I think you would be wise to have a mudroom/ laundry room between the garage and house. It would also be nice to try and change the living room to where the kitchen/dining area is and move the kitchen/dining area to where the LR is now....See MoreLaying 1in Hexagon tile in a bathroom with odd angles.
Comments (25)Two kids and life have gotten in the way of finishing. Quickly realized you can't stop tiling halfway thru - the morter/glue dries and now you have to scrape that away so the new section isn't higher. We are close, I think he can make perfect cuts to line up nicely to the doorway. However, he is a perfectionist and really is leaning to a doorway piece to cover (i'll fight it though). The other concern is the cuts are so close we can't get much grout in between wood piece. I think he's looking into grey kaulking to line the doorway to look like the grout ? (first mistake, the wonderboard under is too tall and we can't slide the tile under the hardwood door piece.) regarding the pics ** The tiles around the doorway are not in, just testing it all out. Where the tile isn't lining up well, those are not glued in, just laid there. Thanks for everyones continued interest!!!...See MoreAsking for Input on a '60s Ranch Bathroom Update
Comments (16)Hello, again. Had to shift my attention to other matters for a bit, but my husband did manage to make scale drawings of the space. I have conceded to continue the Karndean French Oak through the bathroom and kitchen (it has been ordered), but I am quite intrigued by Spicher and Co Vintage floorcloths. Anybody have first-hand experience with this product?? Additionally, I had the opportunity to go exploring in a local warehouse to search for vintage tile and found a couple of tiles that I adore! There is a limited supply, but I hope to come up with a design that will incorporate these accent tiles and fill in with some sort of white-ish tile. I have attached a pic taken at the warehouse (long strip is the countertop) as well as a couple in the bathroom with the vanity mirror and other materials we have selected (third pic is for scale). Fwiw, I am not asking whether you do or don't like the blue tiles–they are exactly what I had hoped to find–but I would appreciate input regarding what shape/size of white-ish tile might look best to complement the decorative blues. I am told the installer will likely have some great suggestions, but have yet to speak with him about it. We located 50 of the larger white tile with the blue corners and 60 of the blue flower tile. We still haven't selected tub/shower and sink plumbing fixtures. I have seen a few tub/shower extenders (with exposed pipes) in finishes that would look good at reasonable prices, but am leery of choosing one that will lead to problems down the road. Any suggestions are most appreciated! I think we are slowly making progress....See MoreRach M
