old sleigh /getting ready for holidays!
Comments (11)Excellent ideas there Twomonths. I was going to suggest bricks inside boxes for weight and then wrap them with the paper and plastic red ribbon. How about a string of Xmas lights outlining the wood or in with the boxes. Even just using faux poinsetta bushes I think would be pretty. They now sell those large plastic Christmas bulbs (Christmas Tree Shop has them), tuck them in here and there. Definitely some holiday greenery. Get some cheap at the Dollar Store. Got a pair of "Santa Boots" you can put beside it, with a Santa coat. Use an old pair DH might have and spray paint them black or use enamel paints for outdoors. I'd spray seal them also. You might be able to find a large red coat at Goodwill and even a big ole' black belt to wrap/sew on it. Maybe even a white feather boa for the trim. Santa Hats are already out in the stores. Stuff it to make it stand up. Cut up and sew a large red Santa bag from a sheet, find that at Goodwill too. Stuff it with branches or something to make it full. Only thing else I want to say is... I am so jealous! I wish that beautiful sled were mine. It's so perfect for the holidays. Cherish it and protect it for sure. Sal...See MoreAre you getting ready for the fall?
Comments (65)Thanks, Silvia. I love going to your garden parties. writersblock --- My abundance of persimmons this year is almost a curse. I still have 3 more sheet pans of fruits in my kitchen waiting to ripen. That will be the end of them for this year. Never thought I would say - finally! A lot of people don't like persimmons so they are hard to give away. If you found the astringent variety to be too astringent, then you tried to eat the fruit too soon. The fruit has to be very soft and deep orange with a translucent look to it. My fruits are extremely sweet. Well, you would like to know what I do with all of my fruits beside eating them fresh. My (adult) daughter loves to eat them frozen, like an apple. The high sugar content keeps the fruit soft enough to eat that way. I have bags of them in my freezer just waiting for her. What I am doing the most right now is dehydrating them sliced. I have a couple of gallons of dehydrated fruit already. The dehydrated persimmons taste very similar to dehydrated figs only with a fruitier taste and the same super sweetness. Almost forgot to mention... I give many persimmons to my chickens. They love them. Persimmon trees are slow growers. Silvia is right in that the trees don't start to produce right away. And, when they are young they have a tendency to produce every other year. Then it won't be long before you have too many. :) Christine...See MoreGetting Ready to sell home FSBO question
Comments (16)quote[I'm buying and I can tell you that price is all the matters right now./ So make sure that you are pricing your house to compete with other houses in your area and make sure you know what it will cost to update / Most of the people I know that are out there shopping are not needing to move, they're looking for deals.] Hello everyone. I'm just new to this forum and all I can say is that I am learning a lot. I am a manufacturing engineer by profession so I really dont know much about real estate, but I try to help out some friends by writing some stuff for them. As for the post above, I agree that PRICE is the name of the game. I've read somewhere that buyers are in it not for moving in but as an investment. With median prices going way, way down, they are taking advantage of the opportunity. Another thing, I believe LOOKS can be a big factor. Add value (not pricing) by getting the house checked through home inspection and other stuff like molds, etc. (check the link below for some resources; note: I'm not connected with them). Anyways, good luck in your home sale, and I hope everything will be well with the home industry this year and the next. Best Regards, Peter Allan Mariano Here is a link that might be useful: home inspection resources....See MoreLast Minute Dress Shopping for Bridal Shower and...
Comments (34)No, she did not have couture, she had more accessible knockoffs. She had one like this that was sleeveless and two that were beaded bodice over wool satin bottoms and a separate top, that I can think of. Luckily she also had a neighbor, (A Japanese woman who also took care of me and taught me how to use chopsticks as a toddler) who could do things like take these apart and bring in sleeves at the shoulder or length at the waist and stuff like that....See MoreSueb20
