Really not a reason to say no, but I would ask if there is deafness. White cats with blue eyes are prone. My Pretty being one. Has never been a problem in all her 12yrs. tho.

I have two...but....not because I only want two.

I have gone through phases of thinking we needed another to keep our young, active cat company (and so he stops bothering our 15 year old lady). Today is not one of them. Last summer, I spent days sewing a new linen slipcover to replace the one they destroyed. I bought heavy blankets to cover it with so they could not destroy it the way they did the last one. I took the blankets off to wash yesterday only to discover that they had somehow gotten under the blankets and scratched the new cover. They are jerks but I love them. So, ya, I'll be an enabler and say you need that cutie pie.

My very practical and unsentimental MIL was over yesterday as I was complaining about the damage. She sniffed and said, " I don't know why you don't just give them to the shelter." I was laughing about it with my DH after and he said she had done just that with their family dog when he was a kid. Yikes.

ETA: our older cat has age related deafness and the only issue is that she sometimes screams at night. We've read that this can be because she can't hear where everyone is and gets upset.

Well I submitted an application for him but I'm still not sure. One thing that concerns me is having cats that outlive us - one of the reasons I said I wouldn't get any more. The other is the risk of getting a cat that does tear up things of value. My current cats don't and I would hate to upset that apple cart. And then there's the idea of getting a second home in a warmer climate and hauling not just two but three cats across country. I did think that could even be a non-starter with just two so might as well have three. Maybe he will already have found a new home and the decision will be made for me.

We used to have an all-white cat and his name was Powder. We are a family of skiers. We combed through our cat and not a non-white hair in him. Apparently white cats are actually "cats without colour".

@schoolhouse_gwagain - I have heard that about white cats. This guy is a flamepoint siamese so might not be an issue. In any case that wouldn't bother me.

Yeah I know. I'm making arm covers for the custom wingback. DH says they're clawing the arms. They do zoomies. Slap fights. Slide around on the wood floors playing chase. They have so much FUN....it is so contagious! MORE FUN! You can't put a price on enriching your life.

You must get him! He’s devine. i’ve warned DH that if the perfect Yorkie came around through rescue, we might be a three dog house.

Okay, I am kind of heartbroken but I decided not to get him. I think I temporarily lost my head and after sleeping on it came back to reality. Maybe another one some day but for now I think I need to stay away from PetFinder. 😥

Ooh, a polydactyl flamepoint! 😻 Yes, I’ve seen a few. Blue is a flame point and he is not deaf. That can happen in all-white cats, though. I’d call Blue a toasty marshmallow color. 😻 Someone on our NextDoor was trying to rehome a flame point from an elderly parent, and yes, I had to look away on that.

@gsciencechick - I thought of Blue right away when I saw him. 😺

He’s so much fun. Fairly quiet for a Siamese mix. He will do little chirps here and there but our other little kitty is like a siren. 😆

Can you apply to foster him as a trial?
