Experiences with Cambria Victoria, Anyone?
Comments (9)I just happened to walk into a small kitchen place the other day and, lo and behold, what did they have but a Cambria Victoria countertop on display. Although I thought I liked this pattern based on the 12"x12" sample I brought home, once I saw it full scale I liked it much less. The lighting in this place wasn't the greatest, but what jumped out at me about the Victoria was that it has some large black splotches and many more larger goldish/yellow splotches. This wasn't something that jumped out at me on the 1 sqft sample. When I stood back and looked at 15-20 sqft I could see it. I know this is Cambria trying to naturalize the look of the quartz to have more randomness and variation like granite, and that "naturalness" was what I thought I liked, but upon viewing it full scale not so much. Plus, the overall tone of the counter was much more of a grayish brown than the golden brown I thought it was. Now, that may have had to do with the fluorescent lighting in the shop, but those black and yellow splotches were definitely there. So now I'm back thinking about granite......See MoreAnyone else have panic attacks before install?
Comments (20)Pqsmom, I'm so happy you love your Buckingham! I can't wait for mine. I'm still not 100% at ease, but doing better. There have been a few snags (what a surprise since that never happens right?). For example in spite of asking the owner of the cabinet shop about 7 times if she was sure she had made the trash cabinet big enough since I thought the Rev A Shelf website saying the opening had to be 15" meant it needed a 16.5" cabinet, she repeatedly stated her specs said a 16" would be fine. Well, installer agreed with me since the trash didn't fit. Now they are going to have to re-cut that cabinet, adjust some stuff and re-order the door. They also sort of forgot to make the fridge cabinet or order the doors for it. Whoops. Anyway in spite of those and a couple other issues, they were still able to come out to template so at least the mistakes won't mean I have to wait even longer for my Buckingham - just as long as it takes to re-cut and install the messed up cabinets. I found the templating interesting since it sort of looked like two grown men doing a big arts and craft project, using plywood boards instead of toothpicks! But maybe that's just the renovation insanity setting in....See MoreAnyone have Cambria Seagrove? Or Summerhill?
Comments (97)We're just finishing a bathroom remodel using Seagrove for vanity top. Can't provide photo because it's not yet installed, however, some comments. First, most photos don't do the Seagrove justice - it's much more attractive "in person" than it might seem in many of the photos. Secondly, it makes a real statement; I'd suggest using for only one surface in the room you may be doing. E.g., if in a kitchen, would only use on the island but go with something much plainer on the other countertops, etc. Finally, the colors in Seagrove give you lots of options on where to go in your choice of backsplash/floor, etc. tile, paint colors, etc.; greys and blue/greys particularly good. We are using the Daltile River Marble (Smoky River) for floor, Daltile Avondale (Castle Rock) shower wall tile, and white cabinets/white subway tile back splash, with a medium blue/grey wall paint. Hope this helps those of you considering the Seagrove....See MoreDoes anyone have Cambria Summerhill with stained cabinets?
Comments (13)No, It is the same as Summerhill but doesn't have the grey vein running thru it which has the sparkles. When I ordered samples I ordered the 12×12 as it gives you a better sample. If your near Hastings, MN you could come see it installed ὠ9. I have a huge kitchen; I was worried I would get too much gray as stained cabinets is my primary focus. Thus the reason I used both; seeing it now installed. It was a homerun! If I was going with only one and stained cabinets. I would definitely choose PendleHill....See MoreKat Faapouli
