kingston brass copper finish and quality

Hello friends,

Can any of you help me out please? I purchased a copper-ish faucet that looks like a spray painted finish and the sprayer is plastic...all of it. The hose for the sprayer is a stiff plastic that takes muscle to pull it out. So, I thought the kingston brass might be a better choice but the reviews all mention leaks and broken/worn parts, etc. I'm really stuck. I have a hammered copper sink and dark green cabinets with a marble look solid surface counter top. This is for my laundry room that I am pulling together. I just want a reliable faucet that isn't going to leak. Does ANY company make a reliable affordable faucet anymore?

Also, anyone have the kingston brass bridge faucet that has held up?

Delta and Moen make quality faucets as does Koher. Brizo is the higher end sister line to Delta.

I have a copper sink in my kitchen and my faucet is oiled rubbed bronze from Kohler.

Are you looking for a copper finish? Watermark has extremely high end high quality faucets and they come in many finishes including copper.

FWIW my bathroom faucets are from Phylrich and they make a copper finish. When I went to a showroom and looked at samples of their copper finishes, I prefer the oiled rubbed bronze to the copper and deliberately selected that one. I do have a copper sink in my guest bath as well as the one in my kitchen.

Moen makes a great faucet, and they stand behind them with a fantastic warranty. They don't have a copper finish, but their gold tone is a pretty, rich orangey gold color.

These were quite tarnished. I did opt to polish them, as I did a few other brass and copper pieces I gave them. However, the pricing was up to the manager. She said she would price them at $ 35 for the set. That would mean my share was $ 18 (or less, if they failed to sell quickly and underwent price reductions). I said that was not enough, and took them back. I know I paid at least $ 50 for them. The manager was apologetic, and said there currently was not much of a market locally for copper and brass. The other copper and brass (an asian motif coffee pot, which does not go with the style of metal pieces I have now, which are mostly middle eastern; a stamped brass tray, and a large cast brass pitcher) I didn't mind being priced at $25. Two were gifts that I no longer use or didn't like.) But I felt differently about the pitchers. Once I get them really clean, I'll put paste wax on them, and start displaying them again.

Thanks, guys. I do LOVE the Kingston bars and got them for a steal. I think I will not install on the shower tile. We don't need a gar bar in there . . . yet. But I will use one along the soaker tub in the drywall. That way, if something fails, it's a drywall patch, not a tile repair. We actually bathe rather than shower 75% of the time.

Signature Hardware Polished and Lacquered Brass Finish

Polished and lacquered brass is bright and shiny only as long as the lacquer coating remains intact. Once it is worn off or damaged the brass will oxidize as brass normally does. It is not considered a robust finish. If the lacquer coating is damaged or worn, the only fix is to strip the lacquer, repolish and recoat. Not usually something you can do at home. I doubt SH give any sort of long-term warranty on this finish. If you want durability you need a PVD brass, which is not actually brass but zirconium or some other non-reactive metal halide that does not tarnish. It looks like shiny brass but acts like chrome, except it is about 20 times harder. Newport Brass/Ginger has a console in PVD brass called "Forever Brass". No idea of the price, but probably more costly than SH.

@Liz Patrick Love your kitchen and thanks for showing the differences in detail. On a time crunch with our kids’ bath and trying to decide if i can mix Kingston Brushed Brass faucets (which will go better with our lighting) and Delta Champagne Bronze fixtures in the shower which will be behind a shower curtain. In the pic of your kitchen faucet and disposal button, you called the Delta finish Champagne Gold but you meant Champagne Bronze right? Thanks for your help! Anyone else use Kingston brushed brass with Kohler shower components in Vibrant Brushed Moderne Brass? Im wondering which one is a closer match, Kohler or Delta? I need something thats in stock and ready to ship so i cant wait for Brizo or California Faucets. Im also thinking of mixing the Kingston brushed brass fixtures in the vanity area with their polished brass in the shower behind the shower curtain. They dont have all the shower components we need in the brushed brass in stock. Would love anyone’s feedback..we decided to tack this on to a much more extensive reno and i dont have the luxury of going to showrooms to look for this part of the reno.

I am looking specifically for an aged copper. I went ahead and ordered the kingston brass. This is for a laundry room so I do not want to budget for watermark or brizo. We are doing a kitchen and bathroom at the same time and I'm putting the majority of my plumbing budget into those spaces.

If anyone could speak for kingston brass and their experience I would really appreciate it! Thanks!

To update: I ordered an antique copper faucet from KB. I really liked the build and quality of the product. My one complaint is that the lever of the sprayer is a very cheap plastic. Seems like they could make that piece metal - even a less expensive metal. The color wasn't right and I plan to return it and go with a bronze faucet.

I bought a Kingston Brass faucet for my half bath 10 years ago in brass. Never had one problem with that faucet. We remodeled that bathroom in November of last year and changed out everything so I don't have it anymore but it was a great product. It also came with a very long warranty on the finish.
