Make-up air question

Our house was built in 2013 and our kitchen, breakfast nook & family room are a large open concept roughly about 1500 sq feet. We dont have water heaters or any other major appliances on this level except for a gas fireplace which we NEVER use. The general contractor who came over said he can install a ducted range hood by getting rid of our existing downdraft(which I hate). he would run the duct over the cabinets to the left with a soffit. He said to install a 1000 CFM hood, we’ll need make-up air. he suggester the following air damper with pressure sensor kit. He said he’ll need to run a duct 12 feet long and he’ll have a vent outside the house. from the inside, he said it will look like an AC vent up in the ceiling. He said this will help us stay code compliant, he has installed this & had no issues.

We’re totally new to this and it keeps unravelling as we keep reading more. Does this sound about right?
