We'd be more helpful if we could see what kind of shutters you have. Many Houzzers would be in favor of removing them entirely if they are just vestigial/decorative and non-functioning.

You can use any color you love on your house. There isn't much door to paint so most colors aren't going to really pop. My personal preference is that the sidelights match the trim and just the door be the focal point. I think black shutters would look great

Very nice house, Violet! I'm going to agree with jck910 that you probably should paint all the trim, including the side lights, white, and the shutters and door the colors you like.

I agree with all the above, but would add that I don't believe the outline around the arched window above the door is adding anything positive. Paint it to match the trim. Black and red are a great combo if you love them. For something more interesting you might consider these.

determine what you want for the shutters, and then do a complimentary or analgous color for the door.
