Kitchen help please! Starmark Marshmallow Cream, White or Repose Gray
Comments (23)I struggled with the backsplash decision the most. It's a marble tile called Siberian Pearl from the Tile Shop. It goes very well with the Cambria Quartz IronsBridge countertop. I have a couple of friends who went with the white, and they love them. We have a lot of woodwork in the house and a stone fireplace so we wanted a warmer feel. Lighting also makes big difference....See MoreRepose Gray for walls & ceiling-new construction
Comments (24)Thank you everyone for responding! Update: We are going to go pay more to have the ceiling painted a different color. Thank you for providing the encouragement to make that upgrade. As long as we like the 3 colors we choose (walls, ceiling, and trim), we'll be able to relax in our new home without feeling like we need to start painting right away. We need a break from making house decisions. We were surprised by the heavy ceiling texture. I actually called my husband and the builder in a panic when I saw it but it was too late. We were asked if we were okay with orange peel texture and were told that is what most people get so we said ok without looking into it. Is there something we should keep in mind when choosing paint if we want to down-play the texture? We are getting more samples and I will post again, either once we are done (I can dream) or if I need your help again. The list so far has 16 new colors to consider. :-) Passive 7064 Worldly Gray 7043 Mindful Gray 7016 Modern Gray 7632 Snowbound 7004 City Loft 7631 Heron Plume 6070 Origami White 7636 Popular Gray 6071 Spare White 6203 Extra White 7006 High Reflective White 7757 Ceiling Bright White 7007 Eider White 7014 Incredible White 7028 Big Chill 7648 Thank you again! Comments (16)hollybar thank you for these ideas! I'm actually walking into the paint store right now to get a sample of Manchester tan. It was recommended by quite a few people and, that was when I was thinking I needed something warm and glowy but not to yellow. ever since the post of all with pictures of blue and green photoshopped, my mind is racing for new ideas. I wonder if my original idea of doing blue or green in the back room will still work? hmmm.. Considering the urbane bronze is supposed to be a dark warm gray (with green and brown), would a bluish green work here? repeating your suggestion but things too good to be true I really prefer blues and greens! I guess I have a lot to learn because I automatically figured blue wouldn't work in anyway. also, it gives me hope that you said you might do the other room a different color. I have a post from over a year ago that has got on for hundreds of comments. I had multiple people follow through with me and they have been an incredible resource and support. They helped me figure out what to do with that crazy black and white floor and all the different things going in in the kitchen. one thing they also is that we should do one color to unify. although, I kind of feel that the floors, although different are much more similar than before and maybe we can get away with it. If you have any color suggestions feel free to throw them my way. it's going to be hard to go to the paint store and not make a snap decision!...See MoreHelp make taupe cabinets look gray!
Comments (7)You have looked at it while it stands vertically, right? the sample of Formica for cabinets? And when you checked whether it works with countertop, you kept countertop sample perpendicular to it? Just making sure, since samples should be looked at, in the order they'll be installed. The lighting in stores and in one's home often is dramatically different. Also each house-has its unique lighting and other things that surround a color and change our perception of it. I think-if cabinets and counter work together, and with the flooring, that's already much less problemaric. Agree with others to wait, until all is there, for backsplash, and look into different lighting. Harmonious things, even if not exactly what we envisioned, irritate us much less, than things that seem to fight each other As long as it works, even if it's warmer look than the "cooler" one you were hoping for-you can introduce then brighter, crispier so to say, "cleaner" or cooler colors with styling. Not with semi-permanent elements that will indeed make it look creamier-but small easy movable things....See MoreKimberly
