Any insight on the pros and cons of buying a microwave with air fryer capability vs an oven with the same capability? Aside from the possible capacity implications, is one more useful/better than the other?

I'm fortunate and have a good size kitchen and large pantry so storage is not an issue but I also don't have a ton of appliances - my KA mixer and toaster are the only ones allowed permanent counter space but even the toaster is tucked into an alcove and not on a working/prep area. @Gooster & @Eileen the french fry method used that inspired all of this is to do a triple rinse on the sliced potatoes or until the water runs clear. Drain but don't bother drying, just shake off excess and put 1/2 the batch in the air fryer. 10 minutes at 385, remove to bowl, toss in 1 tsp of oil, salt or seasoning combo of choice then back in AF another 10 minutes at 385. Obviously I didn't taste them but they look fantastic - I like fries that are basically just short of burned! To me that's easier than parboiling and another thing to wash. But I'm going to give it a try doing this in the Oster next time we make burgers and see if that convection setting is up to the task.

They are great, but no one but me appreciated them . Frozen fries that are at the first precooked stage is what I use now. I cook a serving of French fries for my husband every Thursday in the oven. Would everyone please tell me the brand and size of the air fryer they like. I will not be cooking raw meat, that I do that on the grill or in the Crock Pot. Cooking only for one or two. French fries, egg rolls, reheating. I have a very space challenged kitchen. It was designed in the 50's or 60's for a family that only heated TV dinners, made peanut butter sandwiches, or cereal. I guess that you were to eat out for most meals. The kitchen is 9ftx9ft. and the "dining" room is the same size. I will have to find a space to store. I do have a toaster oven theat is fine for toast, bagels, or reheating pizza. It does not do French fries well. My old one did, but it died.

You could cook eggplant slices. Roasted Brussels sprouts? We have a Breville oven-toaster thing with air fryer capability. I never make toast in it, and seldom air fry. But we use it often to re-heat and crisp things. Great for reheating pizza slices, fried foods takeout (gulp); other things. I don’t think I’ve ever used it for baking or roasting a dinner or main meal. But I use it a fair amount. It is huge, however. It has a dehydrating function, but we’ve never used that.
