Sort of sticker shock for drywall install
Comments (9)Approximately 1.5 years ago I had my basement drywalled. Part of it was already drywalled. I had the guy do 2 rooms, both 13' x 23' and 2 other rooms approx. 10' x 13'. One of the 13' x 23' walls was already done in one of the rooms and one about a 10' section was already done in another room. He didn't do any ceilings, because i was using a drop ceiling. He and his partner came in one day and hung it in about 5 or 6 hours. He came back 3 other times to finish, approx 4 hours a time and he charged me $1500. I thought that was a steal considering it would have taken me a few months to complete. I live in Missouri, by the way....See MoreSticker shock from builder?
Comments (12)Hi every body, Thank you Ray72 for posting this topic, We also in the same shouse with you. Our house designer told us the house can go with our budget, but all the builders we sent the bid come back with 10%-25% higher than the max cost we give them. We decide goes with a cost plus a fixed fee structure. Any body familiar with this system? It sounds good as the builder fee is about 10% ( yes I know they will get a kick from the stores and other companies we use, which I hope won't raise the market praise of the items we order ) And yes, it doesn't take long for us to find out that if we want the marvin clad windows we need to throw minimum another 20K!!! ( the house have more than 50 windows in all size and shape ). Any idea what should we do with this issue? We spent a lot of $ hired the designer for this home and love it ( my dream home ) and it will be our forever home. Thank you...See MoreBanquette sticker shock!
Comments (36)the one above looks nice, but I find that the ones with no toekick and with a back 90 degrees from the seat are not comfortable for me. We got a quote a year or so back when designing our floor plan that was something in the range of 2200 plus the fabric for the cushions. I need to go back soon and get more definitive. This was from a place recommended to me by a designer I know. If you drove by, you would just think it was a generic upholstery place, but it turns out they do a lot of work for restaurants and they know a lot about this type of seating and all the variables to consider. I know our cabinetmaker could make one that was really pretty, but I don't know that it would be comfortable, unless we just got lucky!...See Morewindow sticker shock!
