Adding length to a pattern is more difficult than it is with a solid, where you can have bands of color, for you must make it look intentional, not patchwork. So..... Trim the grommets form your patterned fabric. Use solid grommet top panels at the top AND the bottom. Use the seams to guide you for a straight line. I think you could do this on the bay to hide the irregular line the top frame makes. Then just flank your large front window with a pair of matching stationary panels. These appear to open and close but that wouldn't be necessary for your situation. The trick will be the "line" you create with the rod. I think if the bay rod aligned with the part of the front window where the arch joins the vertical side frames it would unify the look more. The front window wouldn't need a rod all the way across, but just matching stationary rod/brackets at each side. Lighter rods that don't pop visually might be the way to go.

SM - Much better! When reading this thread earlier, the first thing that stuck out to me were the curtains. No one else said anything, so I thought perhaps it was just me and I did not comment. LOL I also agree with some of the other ideas mentioned on here. My husband and I are building a house. Contrary to what George says, I planned my house (room sizes, wall lengths, colors, etc.) around my existing furnishings. We did buy a new breakfast table, and a console/buffet type piece to hang the TV over. Also planning on recovering a couple of pieces of furniture. Otherwise, everything else should fit beautifully. I am planning on purchasing or having drapery pairs made because it was required that I leave behind previous drapes. I do prefer the less is more look. Would rather have shutters or wide wood blinds, without drapery, in most places. SW Naval is a color that I am seriously considering for the study. So glad to see it here!!! I noticed in your last photo that you may have the same color across the hallway. Would love to see that room. From what I can see so far, your home is gorgeous!
