I have similar spots and was considering camellias, too, but any camellia around this town (Livermore) that gets any sun to speak of also gets ugly burned leaves -- very unattractive. My solution was Carpenteria californica, or bush anemone. It's a native, broadleaf evergreeen, is a medium-sized shrub "in captivity", and looks something like a camellia but without "attitude" about the sun. I've been happy with mine. The bloom period is relatively long and the plant looks decent year-round. Ceanothus are great too, but the only ones that do well in Livermore (Ray Hartman, Blue Jeans, Concha) are too expansive for the spot you describe. I have those planted out on my "chaparral" hillside. I ended up using Liriope Big Blue and Nandina Flirt in front of the Yaupon Holly Bordeaux. I used a Dee Runk boxwood to the side of these to replace and old overgrown cypress. I am happy with these selections and they are growing fine so far. The nursery I get these from tend to carry unique plants that I can't find elsewhere. I was just looking at Taylor's Rudolph Yaupon Holly today since I need another for the other side of my foundation border. It has very nice foliage and has berries but the berries tend to sit down in the foliage. Yaupon Holly should work well in your zone.

'Rozanne' is a sprawler - 24" in height is on the generous side, as it doesn't exactly mound or form a distinct shape but rather weaves or rambles over and through neighboring plants. Perfectly happy in full sun (with adequate moisture) to partial shade and ordinary garden soil.

The only one on your list that I grow is Sherry Lane Carr. Got a mild case of rust in my garden this year, but nothing too serious. From experience I can tell you it's not one of the daylilies that likes too much shade. An eastern exposure is fine, but it really needs more then 6 hours of sunlight to bloom its best. A pretty, steady, reliable daylily that I think is a good choice. As to shade tolerant daylilies, that term always makes me nervous. Daylilies really are not shade plants, but since you defined it as 6 hours of sunlight, from personal experience, here are a few that do well in my garden under those conditions: Velvet Shadows, Green Mystique, Bittersweet Destiny (if you don't have rust in your area), Rose Masterpiece, Sour Puss, Mr. Lucky.
