very hard to pick from those photos.

we need to see the entire space w/your lighting. back up and show us the closet w/the samples.

they all look a bit red except for the 4 which looks gray, but I still see pink undertones.

if you want to minimize red tones, use a stain w/o red. try an ashy brown color like antique walnut or something w/a bit of green in the color.

right side, upper two are examples.

Did you try Minwax Dark Walnut?

You know that Minwax is the bottom of the barrel for stains, right? None of those samples look non-red.

Anyway you could use another brand?

Duraseal? (I think its a few steps up from their Minwax line) even General Finishes (or varathane) is better than minwax.

the coffee brown and provincial would be non-red medium brown colors I think you'll like.

or look at the combo walnut/jacobean

is this for a whole house, a bedroom ?? I see stairs. I'd would use a better brand if you going to do a lot of flooring

Since Minwax owns Duraseal, Duraseal also comes in "Minwax" colors, since that is the OP's point of reference.

yes, which is why also said it's a few steps up from the minwax line. they have some other colors that she might like to try, given that there is only a few of 'ashier' stains in the Minwax color line.

Stain is for an open space - living, kitchen, dining area. And front hallway. Paint color is natural linen throughout the space.

Have you thought about going w/a natural color?

to lessen the pink, you could always have the wood bleached. it would help.

otherwise, embrace the natural tones.

the dark wood piece in the corner is similar in color to your island.

Find a refinisher who is trained w/Bona Natural stains. I think the lighter tones would look beautiful throughout your home.
