I suggest a moisture barrier like Dependable(www.floorprep.com) or Ardex(www.ardex.com) makes, then a rubber floor. Roppe make some nice thick rubber flooring. I just installed some throughout the second floor of an art deco style home. Came in 24"x24" tiles, about 5/8" thick.

I have a white tile floor in one bathroom. It was put here when the house was originally built (1960's). It drove me crazy cuz the grout was so discolored. I even tried to change the grout color, but ended up cleaning all that off (huge job, even though, I had only done a small part). I have now found that comet sprinkled on the floor and a good scrub brush, cleans that grout nicely. Only takes about 30 minutes now to have that floor look great. Oh, and I also sealed that grout again, after I finally got it clean, so think that helps keep it nice and white a lot longer. Even so, if I had my choice, it would be vinyl like the other bathroom, that I can wipe up with a bucket of water and dawn dish soap and be in and out of there in just a couple of minutes. We always use the shower in the bathroom with the vinyl floors, because, it is so much nicer to stand on, and much warmer too.

I would not personally risk using double sided tape to hold down rubber tiles like this. The chances of hurting yourself are very high. At 17 lbs each, that SOUND like a lot....but the BIG mats are normally 75 - 100 lbs. Those are the one's that stay in place with gravity and a bit of tape! Simply because they are so heavy. These sound like rather small squares which will probably shift much, much, much more than the big heavy duty mats. Contact the manufacturer of the mats to find out their RECOMMENDED method of install over concrete. Get names of adhesives (there are plenty out there...only a handful will work with RUBBER). These are relatively small, light weight rubber flooring tiles. They are too light to sit with tape on them. I'm sorry but a full spread adhesive is probably the safest way to do this. And just for fun, have you tested your concrete for moisture levels? Specific adhesives must be used for specific moisture levels. And rubber is known to "cap" a concrete slab thereby increasing the moisture levels rather quickly. Those sudden changes in moisture (in the slab) can wreak havoc on adhesives and flooring alike... Just be aware of what rubber does and what it needs. Good luck.

I've used it only once and love it so far. It's so easy! No hauling a heavy bucket of water around the house. Next time, I plan to set a bucket in the bathtub, add a little Dr. Bronner's Sal's Suds soap and hot water, and leave the bucket there just to soak the wet-mop pad and re-soak it as needed after a good rinse. The 26" pads are large, but they cover a lot of area very quickly. The dry mop also does a good job. The microfiber cleaning cloths are waiting to be uses, as I already have more than a dozen old ones that I go through on a regular basis. I swear by microfiber cloths for dusting and wiping down windows, mirrors, and countertops. Even on glass and mirrors, I don't ever use a window cleaning solution -- just a damp microfiber cloth wrung out well. It never leaves streaks. In fact -- today I hosed down an outside window that was covered with dirt, then wiped it down with a barely-damp microfiber cloth (one of the old ones that's been laundered a thousand times... I'm sure the new ones would work even better!) -- and there are NO streaks and no dirt left behind. I swear by microfiber!
