Endless Summer Hydrangea Full Sun

HU-196874496

I live in zone 5b / 6 and have a row of Endless summer hydrangeas I planted on the front / north side of my home last year.

My home casts a shadow but in mid summer afternoons, the hydrangeas end up in pretty much full sun as the sun is much higher than when I planted them last April. The nursery told me that ES hydrangeas can take full sun in this zone and I also put them on a drip system.

However, I got red leaves and they appeared super stressed after a few 90+ degree days in late July.

My question is — Can ES hydrangeas truly take full sun in my zone? Would it be better to move them back a foot or 2 into the house shadow, or just replace with a panicle that can surely take full sun like limelight this spring?
