Paint vs stain on pine Pella French doors with interior shades
Comments (2)Yea, this is the problem with Pella. They just design stuff the way they want and never consider the finishing process. Whether it is stained or painted, unless you are always very careful (which nobody is) you will eventually scratch up the paint or the stain. Overall I think a properly poly'd surface is more durable than a painted one, but paint is easier to touch up, so I think it's about even which ever way you go. Comments (4)Oh it's late, you must be asking whether I want the two sidelights to be operable and the answer is yes. I like the idea of being able to have them open with some ventilation at night without having to worry about having the large doors open. I am doing white Faux wood blinds or shutters from the same shop, but do not like blinds on my doors. Think I will wait and see if they are even needed. The doors connect to a screened porch. Should have enough privacy. One concern is glare on the T.V. (opposite the doors) should the T.V. be watched before the sun goes down. KateF - I love the idea of curtains for your dining room, as well as for my great room. One problem that I might have is that there will be little room for curtains on the far right because of cabinets for bookshelves going there. They are 18" deep. That will only leave about 12" of wall space, I think. I will measure today....See Morekandrewspa
