Comments (19)Thanks for all those photos Silvia. I really appreciate the input. The violas are really so very sweet and you can't help but smile when you see them (a quote from my 4 yr old daughter) As far as the SunHosta, just by weird chance, I linked up to a local grower in Naples "American Farms" on Facebook. Holy moly they have some beautiful plants and a CROP of hosta growing. All their pics are amazing. Crenda, those stones will give off a lot of heat. I had luck with them around my palms where they get a tiny amount of shade but lots of air flow. The ones labeled "SunPatiens" did much better than the New Guinea Impatiens (which actually did say part shade). I got my 10 Amazon Dianthus in this morning and I LOVE THEM! :) Back to surf the American Farms photos and see what to look for next :) Oh and they have that Lady Phlox I mentioned above too, stating Phlox for florida! :) Here's their crop of SunHosta...See Moreplanting manilla mango tree - Zone 9b Bay Area
Comments (5)My advice? Buy two more..or three more. Plant them about as far apart and in full sun as you have. Because the wait for one tree to give you many fruits is going to take at least 6-10 years at best in Fremont. If you plant four or five trees? You will get more fruit without waiting for one tree to reach 15 or 20 feet. I planted mine in the ground in 2012 and its about 12' tall. Full sun, reflected heat of a house or wall. NO SHADE!..if you can help it. Lots of summer water, feed them when they flush. Remember in summer...water,water,water. Soak deep.. THEN let it go a little dry in between When they show they like what care you give them.by flushing well, keep up that good routine of water and feed.. Comments (8)if you bought a bargain bag at bigbox ... just treat them as annuals.. and be done with them in fall ... and dont even bother with winter storage ... the peeps who get into winter storage of things.. are usually the hardcore collectors ... whose bulbs are valuable .. and their passion high .. two thumbs up for them.. but for the rest of us.. whatever .. lol .. up here in my ground freeze MI ... they are basically sold as annuals .. hence my opinion ... ken...See MoreAdvice on Wisteria seedling planting zone 9b
Comments (5)To your question: I've found that putting babies in the ground in summer - here in Central Valley - ends up with dead babies. What I would do is to plant it in a large container so it can build a good root system, then plant it out in the ground in the Fall when the temps are cooler and it can get established before the dry summer heat decends upon us. Good luck! Kate...See Moregyr_falcon
