To me, this looks ideal - kids zone at the end of the room with shelving and baskets for storage, TV on wall by windows with couch facing it. With that said, the best way to plan is to follow the advice given by @Patricia Colwell above. Since your current space is larger than the new space, after you follow Patricia's advice and have a plan, you can can test the plan by moving your furniture into the new arrangement.
