Yes, the fireplace window is exactly the same as the other and equi-distant from the other on the other side of the TV unit so I think it really need to match and be consistent with the others...The drapes I'm looking for (actually, already have) are not full and will be able to hang down slimly. I always extend the rod as much as possible to not cover the windows...Will have to work some magic with that one... I HAD seen doing a road but only a panel hanging down on the outsides of each "pair of windows"...but of course can't fid them now... I have faux silk ones that match the walls well...love the color BUT wish they weren't so full.. I have beige (a little too light though I think) linen and brown color block grommet ones too... And then also crazy ones from IKEA. Will hae to take pix. Ugh. I just hate full drapes that close off a room. I'd like to do them on the two windows that you see fully in the picture, but think doing it on the two on the other side of the tv unit makes it too much. SIGH. Pix to follow. So do we agree that a cornice is farty? I just thought these were super cool....funny thing is, the brown and beige look 80s but the gray looks super cool..not sure I have enough gray to pull it off... This is a better view of the 4 windows (From when we moved in day 1 with temporary furniture and rugs)...

Becky - don't know if you remember my room and link from up-thread but I've continued to follow your situation and thought I'd give you an update on mine since we have similar large, private settings and goals for views. Much as I love roman shades whether fabric or some kind of woven wood/bamboo, I just didn't want to cover up that much glass with the stack height. We did a test run with a textured roller shade on 2 windows in our living room. That way if we hated them it wasn't an investment in every window and we'd keep looking. Here's what we have, a roller shade behind a cassette. You can see the texture, it's not room darkening but offers excellent light/glare control and privacy. When they're open, they are very unobtrusive and leave the glass bare. The cassettes aren't invisible but if you match your wood they will disappear as much as anything can. Mine are in between my wall and my wood color so they have a bit of warmth to them. We are probably going to use these throughout the house where we need light control. Some of those windows may get additional decoration with curtains, and that's an opportunity to add some pattern and color. Personally, I don't think these have a modern look or really any definitive style look because I chose a neutral to basically disappear. If you chose a wood tone or a color of course they will be a focal point and that to me is where the clean lined modern look comes in. But as a first layer with curtains or even on their own matched to your wood, IMO they can work with any home or decorating style. Hope that helps. I am also trying to decide what to do about our 2 sets of French Doors in the great room. Had originally thought about woven shades, but a quote from our local shade shop came back at over $400 per single door!!! I am doing white Faux wood blinds or shutters from the same shop, but do not like blinds on my doors. Think I will wait and see if they are even needed. The doors connect to a screened porch. Should have enough privacy. One concern is glare on the T.V. (opposite the doors) should the T.V. be watched before the sun goes down. KateF - I love the idea of curtains for your dining room, as well as for my great room. One problem that I might have is that there will be little room for curtains on the far right because of cabinets for bookshelves going there. They are 18" deep. That will only leave about 12" of wall space, I think. I will measure today.
