We put the Wolf double ovens in our last house and LOVED them. They were the model from about 2-1/2 years ago, and they vented from the bottom. Has this changed on the new double oven models? (We have since moved and are looking at new appliances - top venting would make me look at other models and not just run out and buy the Wolf). We never had a problem with a hot control panel or hot doors. At one point we were getting steam in a door, and they replaced the door. (I was very happy with Wolf customer service) The convection was wonderful, and I used all of the other features and was happy with everything. They were the best ovens we have had to date. (The only other high-end oven we ever had was a Viking gas range in the house before the last one that was there when we moved in - I couldn't stand it. It had very uneven cooking in the oven, and the burners never went low enough for me) With the Wolf we also bought the bakestone accessory, and I highly recommend it. It was a great feature and I sorely miss it. The only thing I didn't like was that those giant pizzas from Costco (the big square ones) didn't fit in the oven. But those pizzas are so big I can't imagine they fit in any convection oven!

GE and Frigidaire are the two best bang for the buck wall ovens in the USA. Good show for just starting your research of appliances. If for no other reason than resale value I would get the 30". Usually 27" double ovens are for a direct replacement of an old failed double oven. Even if you consider this your forever home, plans last until circumstances change.

I just received my double convection 30 inch wave touch Electrolux! It's in the garage and obviously hasn't been installed so I haven't used it yet. I did go everywhere I could, Fegusons, Pacific Sales, Renwes, etc. etc. etc. and looked at all of the ovens, pulled out the shelves, examined the controls, discussed the merits of each with the sales people and after having dozens to choose from; I choose this one. I've heard great things about them from friends that have Electrolux appliances, but mostly I loved the easy gliding shelves. There's more of the gliders than in the other ovens I saw, I love that the light comes on dim and then ramps up. I love the shade of blue in the interior and I really like that the controls disappear until you touch them. Several of the places I visited used this oven in their kitchen for employees so I saw them live. They all seemed to think it was a great oven so that helped me with my decision. Who knew choosing an oven could be such a big and expensive decision???? Good luck with your choice.

Like you, tak712, I use my double wall ovens a lot. When I did my kitchen (and chose appliances about 2 years ago), there were many hours of research involved on the ovens. The Electrolux Icons were everything I wanted, and I can say that after using them for a year and a half, I could not be more pleased with them. They come up to temp quickly, hold evenly, and perform every function equally well. The gliding racks are great, extend fully, and reconfigure very easily. They each bake with or without convection, broil with or without convection, proof breads, slow-cook like a crockpot, keep warm like a warming drawer, even work as dehydrators, and self-clean. Each oven will also accept up to three "favorites" multi-stage programs. For example, I can put in a frozen item in the morning, tell the oven to come on at a specific time in the afternoon, bake for X hours/minutes, then turn its on the broiler on to brown the top, and then turn itself into a warming drawer and keep the item ready until I turn it off. Each oven operates independently, and all the racks are moveable, so for dehydrating you can just run one oven with all the racks in it. I don't know if those Icon models are still available, but if so, they are worth considering. I've been very happy with them. (Also put the Miele steam oven in another part of the kitchen, and like it, too, but it's a more specialized appliance, also great but not as versatile as the Electrolux ovens.)
