Comments (16)Happy Tuesday! Belated happy, joyous birthday wishes to Patti! It's sure strange here - all of us facing tough battles. I'm sending positive energy to everyone in need, including your friends and family who are toughing it through some tremendous hardships. May God bless them all, and you too. It's been crazy busy for me. Lots of planting up my plants into bigger pots, still starting seeds on my wire greenhouse stand that I have inside my craft room against a patio door. Been potting up tomato plants that are now blooming and have started forming tomatoes. They are indoor plants - I'm stealing big window space in the hall to grow them on. I'm starting new tomato seedlings over the next month for the outdoor garden - 3rd week in May for me - zone 5a Ontario. Sunday had one hell of a scare. Had to call 911 for DH. I can't recall if I spoke of this or not last Sunday - he had severe dizziness, nausea, vision blacking out and had to lie down. They ruled everything out at the hospital and concluded it must have been a severe bout of vertigo. The only thing they could not explain was the fact that for the first 1 1/2 hours his blood pressure was all over the map into dangerously high levels. A few hours later it calmed right back down to his normal range of 117/65. His family doctor has experienced him having bouts of very weird blood pressure to the point of having dangerous levels and then back down to his normal low. No one can explain that. They did find from the cat scan the beginning of plaque in his neck arteries. Family doc has had his legs scanned at the heart clinic - again the nurse was baffled because of his low blood pressure and he did not seem to be a high risk - but we are waiting for that assessment from last week to get to his doc. Abnormal seems to be our normal - not fitting the textbook standards is the same for both of us. So I have to admit to a few days of horrid eating - carbs, cookies and just plain ol' hungry. Not looking back I started damage control yesterday and have dropped 2 of the 4 pounds I put on. It will come off as it was just my tummy showing those few pounds - plus that stuff I ate probably had salt in it (don't normally use much salt). Spring is here - it's a cool one as forecasted. Fine for me because I have lots of garden beds to put in. I prefer the cool weather when flipped, busting up and raking new beds. I don't over heat that way. I'm still here, just really busy right now. Hang in there everyone. My heart is with you. Don't forget your needs while supporting family and friends. If you can think ahead and prepare some grab'n'go foods/snacks and water you won't be stuck at vending machines or canteen stops. LOL to everyone, Peggy...See Morebirthday gift from DD
Comments (3)Thanks, Susan, I have that pattern too and have used it many times for all sorts of ages. I like to use those yarn curls for the top decoration for little girls. They don't shed in the laundry like a pom-pom might. Well, she saw her ob today, and still no news of the sex. I guess after the next appointment in 4 weeks we will know for sure. So I have a month to plan. Donna, I will study the patterns and yarns. I may use the yarn to make a cardigan as you suggest and then make the hat in a solid coordinating color from the pattern Susan suggested with the first row of the cuff trimmed in the last of the special yarn. The hat could be a sport or worsted and just trimmed with the specialty yarn. Great ideas here. Ya know, I need more than 9 months to get all this layette stuff knitted and crocheted for our first grandbaby!...See MoreGift and party ideas for 21st birthday
Comments (6)Well, to many a clown and a pony would be cute but it might go over rather like the Hindenburg. No offense, but aren't you asking the wrong people? Seems to me the ones to ask are the recipients. My first thought is that if he's not hanging around with high school friends, there could well be a reason, and inviting them without his consent would be quite risky. Likely it won't be a surprise anyway if they're expecting parties and if it's always happened, they probably will expect it whether they want it or not. Perhaps he'd like the money for a party to go toward the car rather than an expensive party. I too am a bit confused since there's not a lot of 2002-2003 cars on the market for $500. Maybe he'd like a nice dinner out with his GF and have dessert at home with the family & friends afterward? Or maybe wants something quiet? I'd ask them point blank. What would you like for your birthday? Would you like a party? Small or large? What type of theme, if any? Who would you like invited? I'm just thinking that he might feel like he's being treated like a 10 year old rather than an adult. If you're giving money, and if he has a sense of humor, you could take a box and individually wrap some rolls of coins and bills of different denominations, maybe some gas cards or prepaid credit cards, pack them all into one big box and watch him unwrap his money a few dollars at a time. Again, depends on the person. I'd really suggest getting him involved....See More21st Birthday gift ideas?
Comments (16)Last year DS said "I can't wait till I'm 21 and can go into a bar and order a White Russian", we thought that was kind of odd but then we saw The Big Lebowski. DS loves movies. He says he doesn't drink, and really, when we brought up taking him out, well, he wasn't interested. Too bad, because it would be easy. Maybe we'll get him a White Russian, anyway! DS is a theater major, so maybe pay for his headshots? But we'd probably pay for that anyway. (We paid for a couple of sessions with his old voice teacher to prepare for an upcoming audition) Or we'll make up a gift cert/couponp for the Second City Training Center; he's done classes and workshops there before, but they don't seem to have gift certs. I love the 21x21 idea! There's a lot of fun as well as serious gifts that can go into that. Our other DS turns 16 a week later, so maybe we'll reprise the idea for him, too....See MoreSueb20
