How do I cook a raw ham steak?

I went to the butcher planning to get some ham to put in with my black eyed peas, got distracted, and came home with a large slice of raw ham, about 1 1/4" thick. I've never cooked anything like this before. I looked on the internet and saw some recipes with quick cooking times, but they didn't mention starting with it raw. Any suggestions? (BTW, now I plan to make my black eyed peas vegetarian and serve this ham alongside.)
