bathroom tile FAQ's
Comments (64)I changed the entrance of my shower tub. The panel board was moldy; water was getting in between the top tiles and the panel board. the joint was not well sealed. I put new everything for the entrance, even a membrane between the plywood and the tiles. However, it seems to leak from the wall now. Water is coming out of the wall outside the shower tub. Would it be the grout, tiles...? Tiles and grout are probably 20+ yrs old ( turquoise tiles). I tried to put some ready grout ( in a tube), but it still leaks! Calking is well done. Should I remove the old grout and put new one everywhere? Thanks for your help!...See MorePink bathroom tile - how to work with this?
Comments (35)Love the shower curtain but I think that perhaps these rooms are way too small to carry off such a large print. Would my black sheer drapes used with my plastic opaque shower curtain liner for the hall bath work if I leave the walls white and use the floral prints in there? The smaller bath (pink tiled shower, no tub) I think I might paint the walls a warm beige to match my towels and shower curtain and have black accents in there. The art will somehow incorporate 3 or 4 colors, like the beige, black, pink and something different like copper. Hmmmm. Fun! Thanks for the great advice!...See MoreHow to tolerate this bathroom
Comments (39)What about gel staining the vanity and all that oak an espresso color? I'd also replace the hardware. I'd embrace the blue tiles. I know, everybody wants to hide it or whatever, but if you do anything to try and hide it, it makes it stand out --like the current owners did by painting the walls yellow, it makes it stick out more. What if you painted the walls so it just blends away. Some good ideas above that show those paint colors. Blue and brown go very nicely together. (the brown from the vanity, not suggesting you paint walls brown!) If you did the vanity dark, and then add in blue accents. Get a tall glass jar from Home Goods or TJ Max, fill it with the pretty wrapped soaps you can find there. Look for the ones with the wrappers that are shades of blue. Here is my oak cabinet in the last house that I gel stained and brought it right into this century. Not a single realtor could believe that we did not replace the vanities in this house. jar with soaps (I was going for pinks and grays)...See MoreHow to minimize pink in a crazy big bathroom?
Comments (128)HU, I noted that the brown color in the doors and door frames tends to soften or tone down the pink. You may want to paint all the cabinets and wood trim that color. Put the same color of wood on the tub facing. Paint the walls a complimentary soft creamy white and frost the shower door. Tada!...See More- 2 years agolast modified: 2 years ago
