Disinfect vacuum cleaner after pantry moth infestatio
Comments (5)Those moths will not lay eggs in your vacuum cleaner so there is no need to disinfect it. To control these Indian Meal Moths, pantry moths. place any grain products you have in the freezer and take them out only as you use them and put them back after that use. It is truly amazing the number of sites on the web about spraying poisons, that are about as harmful to you as the moths, when controlling them is so simple....See MoreDisinfecting advice needed urgently!
Comments (9)At my hospital, we obviously use special cleansers, but thought you might like to know what the CDC Center for Disease Control has to say about Staph and MRSA: Laundry Will routine laundry processes, detergents, and laundry additives remove staph and MRSA from towels, clothes, linens, and uniforms? Yes. Routine laundry procedures, detergents, and laundry additives will all help to make clothes, towels, and linens safe to wear or touch. If items have been contaminated by infectious material, these may be laundered separately, but this is not absolutely necessary. Top WhatÂs the proper water temperature for laundry? Read and follow the clothing and soap or detergent label instructions. Water temperatures for household laundry depend on the type of fiber or fabric of the clothing. In general, wash and dry in the warmest temperatures recommended on the clothing label. Also some modern laundry detergents are made to clean best at certain temperatures. Not following instructions could damage the clothing item or decrease the effectiveness of the detergent. Top Is hot water washing and drying required for laundry? No. Read and follow the clothing and soap or detergent label instructions. Wash and dry clothing in the warmest temperature listed on the clothing label. Hot water washing is not necessary for all household laundry. Top Do we need to use bleach for each load of laundry? No. Clean laundry produced by washing with detergent alone will be safe for wear and use. Use of bleach as a disinfectant in laundering is optional, and not all fabrics are suitable for bleach. Read the clothing label instructions. Here is a link that might be useful: CDC Environmental Control of Staph and MRSA...See MoreSanitizing/disinfecting plastic packaging trays
Comments (14)Well, that is a LOT of work to go through! Especially if you can get a grocery store to donate some. It certainly wouldn't hurt to ask. I would be perfectly comfortable using them for non food items, but then, I am not a Germaphobe, either. I would think that germs, (or 'nasties') left behind from people handling the items displayed would be of more concern than anything your cleaning process may have left behind. And how concerned is anyone about that? Who even thinks of anything like that when shopping at a sale of that kind? ETA: Why not just wash in hot soapy water, then place them in a bucket of hot bleach solution, and let them soak for awhile, or even overnight? (They'd have to be weighed down). Then wash again and rinse. I would think the soaking would allow the solution to penetrate them. Rusty...See MoreWhat do you use to disinfect granite counters
Comments (17)Oakley, disinfecting your kitchen counters is kind of like washing your hands. Anything brought into your house has germs. I don't prepare meat directly on my counters, but I disinfect almost daily. It's just part of my clean-up each day. Clean sink, put everything away, etc. and wipe counters. I have quartz. I use method or mrs. meyers for a nice scent or bleach wipes, alcohol (also on my cooktop), thieves cleaner, or bleach/water mixture. Years ago I attended a class at work for CE points and it was on controlling germs in the home. One thing has stuck in my mind - they taught that whatever disinfectant you use, spray it on the counters, then leave on a few minutes before wiping off....See MoreJupidupi
