Doing anything I’ve been putting off. I’m a fine procrastinator, so I have lots of such opportunities.

Cleaning and organizing a closet. That’s sich a good feeling, I keep opening the closet and being delighted each time. (Like a baby playing peek-a-boo!)

After hard work, or a tough time, a shower!

Not an addition, but I'm in agreement with the joy of coming home to your own house after a trip. I also can't wait to shower after I get off of an airplane. I feel so much better afterwards.

It's the little things in life that should matter and do make some happy! People are so busy and overwhelmed these days. I sometimes wonder if people 'have time' to enjoy themselves.

I enjoyed your post and can most certainly appreciate what your talking about. I have health issues. I keep a journal/list of everything I need/want to accomplish. The important things come first. It's rare that I have days that I get to the needs, as well as the wants. But ever once in awhile I do and I go to bed a happy camper!

Great list, Amylou. I would add having my gardens weeded, nicely mulched, and everything trimmed and looking good.

And nothing beats taking a shower and sleeping in your own bed after a long trip.

Definitely agree with coming home to your own shower after a trip. Yes to the rest you've posted also. I will add:

A long trail ride in the crisp mountain air. Bonus points when you are with someone who doesn't need to talk to understand where you're at.

Nature's pedicure, toes in the sand and waves lapping at your feet along with the aromatherapy of the ocean.

The smell of the barn as you step inside to be greeted by nickers and squeals.

When you dog greets you like a long lost friend even if you just stepped outside for a minute.

Realizing you can finally turn over on the sore side without wincing after an injury.

A nice warm bubble bath on a cold night with a burning candle and a good book.

Holding your new baby for the first time

When your grandchild hugs you and says 'I love you grandma'.

Sleeping in a freshly made bed with new bedding.

Hearing a favorite song

Walking into an air conditioned home after walking outside in the Texas heat.

Newly finalized divorce decrees.

Hosting a party! The joy when your party guest arrive and the fun begins after getting all the dishes they brought arranged.

The joy of hugging your friends that live long distance when picking them up or they pick you up at the airport.

In light of recent events, that time of praying and singing in church when finally no one was required to wear masks, no long muffled and muzzled.

Supper over, kitchen cleaned up and dishes in the dishwasher. Switch on the fireplace gas log and settle into my spot on my cozy couch. DH snoozing lightly in his recliner in front of the football game and I slip quietly over to swipe the remote off the arm of his chair. Ahhhh.

Adding to your list: A free coffee table. People moved into a condo and didn't have room for it.

I love getting into fresh sheets on the bed. I hang them on the line in the summer, and on a rack on the balcony in the winter. They always smell like fresh air.

When I walk in the door, Bud is right there greeting me. I love having a pet to come home to.

I smiled at Wildchild's comment about your dog greeting you even if you were only gone for a moment. When I babysat Gino for a few days, he greeted me with his toy when I entered my apartment even though I was only downstairs at the laundry room. LOL

Closing a phone call with, "I love you," heard and said because it's true. (DH, DS, DDIL, DGS, DGD, dear friends of many decades.)

Making the bed with freshly ironed sheets in a dusted and vacuumed bedroom.

Plugging in the two tabletop trees that still work, 40 years on, former decorations enjoyed by my DM and MIL.

Seeing these in Trader Joe’s (thought of you, Amy.) I didn’t get one but it was tempting.

A full tank of gas and clean sheets! Although a full tank of gas sets me back about $30!

Walking into your house after the housecleaner has left. Of course this was pre-covid.

Snuggling down in fleece sheets and a fluffy comforter after a bitter cold day where you just can't get warm.

Sleeping through the night without having to get up to go pee.

When your hubby has gone hunting for a few weeks and you have the house all to yourself.

Hugs and cheek pecks from acquaintances you haven't seen for awhile.

Forgot the sheets fresh off the line and into the bed. I hang clothes out year-round except on rainy days.

Good find on a coffee table, Nicole. I saw your original posting where you said it's a $1,200 table, and 42"x42" in size. That's less expensive than each of the two 40"x40" Grand Ottomans that we got with our patio furniture.

Busy day at work.

Seriously, because the time goes fast, but that means a lot of things happened that needed to happen.

Doing things I don't know that I've ever done before. I never knew I could snorkel. Never knew I could rollerskate after having quit for a couple of decades. I didn't know I could do plumbing or drywall until I tried it. Even more satisfying, is when I'm good at whatever it is I'm trying to do! Not everybody's good at drywall.

I love to re-read things I've written years ago, and by re-read, I mean in my hold- it - in - my - hands journal. It's amazing how far I've come, and the things I thought about, are still relevant. Though, more fleshed out. Nice to figure them out.

When we moved into our last house, we promptly lost the garage door code. 10 months later I found it, and boy was that a feel good moment!

Arriving at the lake house for a long weekend stay. All stress is immediately released. Our motto at the lake is posted at the door...'No drama or trauma allowed beyond this point'.

Anything to do with my dogs over the years. Lots of happy memories. Brings a smile to my face remembering.
