Weirdest scam call ever!
Comments (49)So I had another call today from a private number. Woman id'd herself and wanted to speak to Annie Deighnaugh. I said who was she with, she named a firm that didn't mean anything to me. I said what does she want and she refused to say anything other than she has personal business with Annie Deighnaugh. I refused to ID who I was and since I wouldn't she would say nothing else. I asked her to give me a general idea what it was about and she would only say "personal business with Annie Deighnaugh". She did say she wasn't trying to sell me anything. So we were at an impasse. I told her if she really knew Annie Deighnaugh, she'd have other ways of contacting her and suggested she use it. She said she would try again later, and I told her not to call again. I suspect it was a call reminding us to fill out a proxy statement. But how ridiculous. I could've been anyone and misrepresented myself as Annie Deighnaugh, so why on earth would that make a difference? How could they possibly trust that I was who I said I was? And if it was about a proxy vote, why couldn't she say that? It's just getting super bizarro!...See MoreList your Pet Peeves!
Comments (56)Hmm. It's not really an issue anymore, thankfully, but as a vegetarian, I have gotten annoyed when . . . (1) people read me the menu and point out vegetarian items. I am a vegetarian, not illiterate. (2) people think if a restaurant serves salad, then it's a good enough vegetarian meal. I'm hungry, people! Salad alone doesn't cut it! (3) people want to debate vegetarianism with me. I leave omnivores alone-- why do they care about my choice? In fact, I tell people (if they ask) NOT to be vegetarians, just to eat meat in moderation and/or buy free-range. IF they ask (really, it's when they tell me they feel guilty for not being a vegetarian), and never during meals. (4) people tell me I'm not really a vegetarian because I use milk products and free-range eggs. I try to explain veganism (that I'm not one!) to them but they don't get it. Actually, this only happened once, at a WEDDING (when I was discreetly eating my veggie entree) with a total stranger. So, not something ongoing. (5) people tell me they are vegetarians, but then order chicken, beef, whatever when we are out together. I mean, I do NOT CARE if someone is a vegetarian (I rarely discuss it), but why lie? The only reason I use a label ever is because it can be awkward when I am invited to dinner at someone's house and I haven't mentioned it....See MoreLooks like rrd but is not
Comments (41)flowers: How are you? What did you decide to do? I would love to know how things turned out with your rose? Just like patty says: "there are as many as eight laterals growing from one growth node. Roses do not do this. The first time I saw this alarm bells rang but I waited till the next morning to cut it off. True rrd explodes in growth. In the case of a single cane that looks this way, watch the thorns. Even though it looks hyperthorny they will by evenly spaced around the cane. Even though the exuberant or fast growing cane may look too red or too thorny and seems to grow too fast. It will still have certain characteristics. It will not be larger then where it grew from. It will not be growing out of the end of a rose cane. You know it kind follows the rules so to speak. Basically learned it wasn’t rrd/rrv by not cutting it off but watching it for a day or two. Had it been rrd it would have gotten much worse very quickly." I have been in an exhausting hyper-alert mode about rrd. Earlier in spring I had to take out a super gigantic rambler due to rrd. Everyday, just waiting for the other shoe to drop, just seeing red everywhere. Here I see three laterals coming from one node in Bolero Also note a small shoot coming out from the node below. Seems too red and too many thorns. Contrast a 'normal' lateral 2 nodes below. The above pictures were taken July 7th. here is the same area three days later, July 10th. The three shoots from from one node and the shoot from one day below. Still looks iffy but, but not surely. and the 'normal' shoot two nodes below And July 16th. The three shoots is in the top left corner, a portion of the shoot from the node below is visible right below it. The normal shoot visible bottom left corner. To me does not look like rrd anymore. When I saw what is in the first picture I felt panicky. That Bolero bush is the rose closest to the rambler that went. I was going to go out next morning and cut off the cane from the crown with a scalpel, if not take out the whole bush. I started thinking of the eventuality of taking out all the roses in the area and then what I would do with soil. But I didnt cut off the cane the next morning. I dont know why. I think I was too tired the next morning. Then as I waited another day it seemed it was going to be alright. There was also this. A large number of basals coming out on my Pink Eden with red tips. This after I saw a big cane with very red leaves. I removed that big cane and dont have a picture of it. The canes coming out also are very thorny relative to the normal canes and the red leaves very narrow. The above pictures of Pink Eden were also on July 7th. I was certain the whole bush was now infected with rrd. Here are those basals on July 16th. They look normal now. So thats my photo essay for rrd that wasnt....See MoreBizarro...I only see 11 of the 12
Comments (26)I can only get 11 also. all that is left is the arrow which is rarely used or the Bird. I always saw the pie as a sort of alligator creature. I don't believe you count two of the same. You often have more than one crown and it always counts as one. I certainly don't think the binders count unless he has added a new symbol which is entirely possible....See More- 4 years agolast modified: 4 years ago
