Can anyone tell me what a 3 door closet is called?

I moved in with my best friend and her Mom (Starting over at 53.) which i very much appreciate. A friend of ours was doing other work for them so he painted my” room. Color is Kelly Moore Eskimo Blue. The closet doors are painted something like French Country white, beige, 84 y/o way out of date yucky color - it has 3 panels that measure 36”Wx80”H. The doors glide behind or infront of each other. And lovely gold circle finger pulls. So they look awful and my friend wants to paint another color or get new replacements but on the CHEAPER end. ok her and i want as cheap as possible. So questions: What is this style called? Paint suggestions? and do you lnow where we can find best price? (On the right of pic is the door to room. NOT PART of closet)

They're MCM sliding closet doors and were often used in cookie cutter ranch houses and mobile homes in the middle of the last century. In actual wood rather than solid core doors, they're likely expensive.

After you measure the door opening, height and width, you might totally rethink the covering for the opening.

The least expensive solution might well be inexpensive "drapes"/curtains hung on a rod above the opening. How much you spend on the curtains (or fabric if you're hemming it to make your own) would determine the cost.

Another idea, depending upon the total width of the closet, might be to use vertical blinds.

DIY inclined? With vertical boards where shades would meet, you might be able to use pull down shades.

If, however, you want actual doors, consider whether these doors are in good enough shape to be be reused if you added hinges to one side of at least two of them and rethink part of the closet space that would still be open.

What are the measurements of the opening and what does the part of the closet door behind the bedroom door look like -- does the closet extend the full width of the wall from the exterior wall to the wall of the entry door?

Check out some You Tube vids to see if you can find DIY options you might like.

You might be able to make a folding room divider or hanging room divider work but if not attached to the wall, they'd be awkward.

Hi all! Your picture is of a Florida native plant called Hymenocallis latifolia. According to my native plant guide, "This spider lily is one of Florida's most beautiful native flowers and is becoming very popular for low-maintenance landscaping. Like the related alligator lily and string lily, it belongs to the amaryllis family. This plant flourishes in my beachside garden, but it usually has a range in zones 10-11. Maybe its more flexible than reported. I gave some bulbs to a friend in zone 8 and its flourishing there too. I love this plant because it's leaves are almost as pretty as its blooms!

OCwormgirl is correct. Tradescantia pallida, aka setcreasea pallida, or setcreasea purpurea, is a hardy, vigorous groundcover where you want it. It has recently become increasingly common in drought-tolerant plantings in highway median strips. Unfortunately, it is also a hardy, vigorous groundcover where you don't want it. And it has a mind of its own as to where it spreads. Since your "almost mine" home in not yet fully yours, I would certainly have your real estate agent take up the matter with the sellers. It is likely that you can compel them to eradicate this plant before closing, the same as if it were termites or vermin. Don't let anyone tell you it's no big deal. (Remember that the sellers, their agent, and even your agent have every reason--$$-to downplay this.) The fact that it is at your foundation is especially concerning. Good luck. Kay

Your house was built before 1870, but after 1820. It could be called 'Italianate' from its paired windows on the second floor. It could also be called "Folk Victorian" . The length of the windows, the window casings with their small hoods are all early Victorian. The window panes (2/2) are probably renovations from the early 1900's. Its eaves, which extend straight out with no returns back to the main house, are Italianate, or 'Romantic' - a reaction to so many years of 'Colonial' architecture in the beginning of the Industrial Revolution. You can see that the builder is still thinking in terms of 'Colonial' symmetry but beginning to use the frills ( bay windows, paired windows, fancier door and window casings) that became so popular in the later Victorian years. The bay windows and the porch make it more likely to have been built closer to the 1850's. Also the newel post in the second slide is made from one log, turned on a lathe - very popular from the late 1830's to the 1860's. However your other stair railing, balusters and the fireplace mantles are the style of the 1830's. I know a similar hand rail (how lovely it is to look at and to feel in the hand!) built by a factory owner in 1838. The iron fence is probably later, early 1870's, as are the spindles (the little turned pieces up next to the roof) on the back porch. See if you can find a copy of Asher Benjamin's pattern book published in 1830 or 1827. He was a very popular architect whose books were copied by local carpenters all over the US. The 1827 and 1830 editions have illustrations very similar to your pictures. Also you might enjoy 'A Field Guide to American Houses' by the McAlesters.

Scottish Bond is a pattern of installing the brick. Not the brick itself. If you don't like the color of your brick, there is brick stain available that can be applied to change the color. However, if you are looking to update the appearance of your home, I would start by painting the shutters and front door a darker, more contrasting color and replacing the leggy bushes in front.

Triple bypass closet doors?

i dont think they look bad but such a pain to use. in that space you have few other options except a curtain.

Easiest solution is to paint them to match your wall color. Maybe add a full length mirror to center one with nice frame. ( Use trim molding to save money.) Those sliding doors do save floor space where having 3 swinging doors would conflict.

If the doors work and you're just wanting a change of look, I agree that painting them the same color as the walls is a good idea.

If they do not slide as intended ... if they get off their tracks ... then what you might do is take pictures of the doors and hardware with you and try to see if you can replace the hardware.

Paint them the same as the walls to make them an invisible as possible and if it was my space I would be looking at Ikea for Pax to fill that space with so much better storage but this is not your house so just paint,

Another vote for painting them the same as the wall. Same colour, same finish. Replacing them will just draw attention to them, and the room won't look any better. Save your budget for things that are more impactful.

I agree with others that this is essentially a non-issue as they are innocuous. Just paint them the same color as the wall so they blend in.

Once you get them organized properly they aren't difficult to use because you know what is behind each segment and you put items that aren't accessed frequently in the segment that is most troublesome.

I have double sliding doors in my closet which I replaced when I remodeled with new doors. I have seen some gorgeous "statement" versions but any upgrade from your current innocuous doors would be expensive. A higher end MCM home might have had walnut slab doors. I have seen "fancy" doors that have mullions or lamina or the current trend "black" type of mullions. Some of my neighbors with the same layout have the "slatted" style of sliding wood doors.

Mine are full mirrors with invisible hardware. It works for me because I have a high rise city view so having the view reflected in the wall of mirrors was a design choice. It is also extremely practical to have large floor to ceiling wall to wall mirrors. It doesn't make me think of a bad disco in the least :-)

Save your money, effort and add curtains. You could paint interior same color as room, or add cute wallpaper and they will provide much easier/convenient access.

May want to store doors, in case a future home owner would prefer.

You could also consider removable wallpaper in a cheerful pattern for the doors or the doors plus the wall.
