Should the media wall in Family room have Fireplace?

For our new home build, we are trying to stick to a more modern-contemporary design aesthetics.

Thinking on final design for our Medial Wall in Family room.. We don't want TV to be oddly hanging too high so don't want to stretch it too tall. And our fireplace will be Electric so we have a bit more leverage on where we place it.

we have four options:

1. Don't have a fireplace

2. Have a fireplace along the cabinets - pulls the TV forward by ~6" from the backwall

3. Have a fireplace with TV wall - pulls the TV forward by ~18", i.e. we loose 18" of perceived family room space?

4. Have no cabinets, and just the TV over completely flush fireplace

BTW, this is 14' wide wall with ceiling height of 9'

Which one do you recommend?

No fireplace. That's a nice clean look in option 1 and the fireplace clutters the area, looks too low, and isn't real flame.....

Do you want a fireplace? Doesn't matter much what people on the internet want; we're not going to live there.

Personally, I think TV/fireplace combos look disjointed, so I'd pick one or the other. But it's not my house.

yep. You can liven up the area without sacrificing the depth & warmth of that rich knotty pine paneling; replacing the cool-color carpet with warm wood flooring will be more harmonious. Once that's done, live with it a little while, & then you might think about doing something to the fireplace-I usually think red brick is too massive & dense for any building other than a school, & definitely too much for the interior of a home, so I'd probably lighten it up. Then you might think about replacing the cool-color paint on the walls with a warm color that would tie the room together rather than driving it apart. (yes, you are correct: I am incapable of doing just one thing & leaving other things alone!). It's a lovely room, & I hope you have fun with it!

So you'll want a console in the 70-80" range. The white one is 74". I just found this one on Houzz. You can likely find something similar for cheaper elsewhere. I've worked out a 3D render of what your room could look like with your current setup. Neutral wall art/ Black & white photo prints would work well on that wall color and with grey furniture. You can also add indoor plants, floor lamps etc. to liven up the space. The TV would definitely look better away from the window but I will need to see more images for that. Are you looking to buy new furniture/ decor? Are you choosing new wall colors? If you could give us more images and a floor plan, more suggestions can be made. You could also make changes yourself in this 3D build here.

Thank you, all for your input. @thinkdesignlive, I was planning on placing the cerulean pillows on the sectional and the neutral gold/silver pillows on the chairs. @Patricia Colwell, I was hoping to integrate the gray ottoman with the gray in the rug...thoughts? @User, I'm uploading a more updated moodboard, which I hope helps. If u do decide to put a fireplace in-do your due diligence with the fireplace manufacturer to make sure the model you select will work below tv (due to heat)

Then again if you watch a lot of movies that depict hell, it may enhance the viewing experience.

I like the option of having both. Why not TV here and FP at the opposite end? Then fill the middle with swivel chairs that can appreciate both or the view?

Where in the home is this? Basement walk out? Is that window real? I am feeling chilly just thinking about that space, snow outside. If you will need a fancy space heater I would go for it. I would choose the look in pic 3.

Opt. 1 is my preference for a distinct media room feel. However, if this is the only Family/Living space I would prefer Opt 3 so the FP is the focal point for times TV is not on.

I definitely dislike the linear fireplace down so low ... and, with the flames underneath, it kinda looks like poor old Walter White's in hell.

The no-fireplace option definitely looks best ... I like the clean lines, and I like the storage under the TV. BUT I wouldn't want to give it up. How about replacing the fireplace with a SMALL, unobtrusive woodstove to the right side of the large TV?

Do you want a fireplace? Doesn't matter much what people on the internet want; we're not going to live there.

Well, if the OP were sure of these things, he or she wouldn't be soliciting advice.
