Anyone purchased a rug from this on-line store?
Comments (7)Hiyas Teeda! Being the anal (jes a leetle bit *grin*) person that I am, I was determined to get a rug for our bedroom re-do that I was totally in love with not just something I'd settle for. After searching brick and mortar stores all over a 75 mile radius of my home, I went to dozens of sites online with the same questions: How is the rug made? What are ALL the colors in the rug? I did NOT want black, had to be dark brown, Nor any form of red or burgundy/wine/cranberry, had to be dark terra cotta or rust. The nice woman at Smart Bargains was the only one who had the patience to work with me via email for almost two weeks before I made my final decision. The rug came and I was floored/flabbergasted/excited beyond belief! It was everything I wanted and even more! The rug isn't in the bedroom yet. I unrolled it to take a pic so I can show you the design. Being I wanted a rug with all the colors in my new-to-us after 25 years bedroom, I couldn't be happier with the colors and the quality. Not to mention the great price and fast shipment! I have ordered rugs from Overstock dot com also with the same fast ship, good quality and great reduced price. But the rug for our bedroom had to be practically perfect for us and Smart Bargains' rug fit the bill to a T. Oh, and I've purchased other things (drapery, bedding, kitchenware, etc) from both Smart Bargains and Overstock and so far have never been disappointed....See MoreCat~~~what did you do about SS?
Comments (57)Phoggie, Hi! Thank you for thinking of me ;0) I am currently looking for a home. I decided I did not want to move back to the home that SS has been living in when he gets his own place (which incidentally prob wont happen soon as his whole deal fell through-you cant get a mortgage when you have filed BK within 5 yr.s). I went and got my mortgage approval and am working with a real estate agent looking at places now. It may take a little time as I want to be really careful to not get in over my head financially and have areasonable payment including taxes. I want to pay for it all by myself with no help from DH. I'm sure you understand why. I am trying to keep DH in the loop about looking at homes and such, to be fair. I am still trying my best to make it not only comfortable for me but make sure he would like it too. He just says "pick whatever you want." Well, that's my plan! Whatever!! I can tell you this, I will not accept any financial assistance from him for whatever I end up getting. I don't ever want to hear again "I'm working so hard to take care of YOU, blah, blah, blah. I have toyed with NOT getting a house here but rather buying one out of state near my son instead. But there are some steal here & I could keep it as a rental if DH did not want to stay in the winter. Thats whats up with me right now. Thank you for thinking of me :0) ~Cat...See MoreMy next house - how do I beat the flippers
Comments (22)kashka kat, Thanks for starting this conversation. I am in the same boat. Interested in a small neighborhood that has gotten hot in recent months. Red hot. This (little) market is moving so fast that properties never make it onto Trulia or Zillow or the MLS feeds. And the listing company doesn't even get a picture up on their own site, nor a sign in the yard. I have informed several agents we are cash buyers, no mortgage or appraisal contingencies, flexible on closing date, etc. Tip me on a property and you can show it to me, but if I find it myself I will deal directly with the selling agent. Last Thursday morning a realtor tipped me on a new listing but she couldn't show it to me until the next day. When I walked by there was an agent at the property fnishing a showing & willing to show it to me, but I declined out of loyalty to the agent who tipped me to it. The place went under contract that night, so I missed out. As with one a few weeks ago, I probably would have made a better offer than the llc flipper had I had the chance to see the place and make an offer. I don't see how committing (written contract) to one buyer's agent would help in this situation. Properties don't seem to get outside the listing agency before they are snapped up. A buyer's agent wouldn't know about 'in house' listings except in their own 'house', right? So that won't help. Hmmmm. I'm thinking it's best to just keep being clear with as many agents as I can what I am looking for and that I am a ready buyer. Am I missing something?...See MoreWhat do you think of the new fabric line from Connecting Threads?
Comments (9)Well I purchased a kit from them with mixed results. The fabric which is suppose to be 44" wide isn't. The fabric cuts are short so a 1/2 yard was cut to 17" which became a problem and the directions to cut the strips needed the 44"wide fabric. And there was a lot of shrinkage. I wasn't overjoyed with the fabric which seemed dull in color. However I was in email contact with them and although not overly prompt in answering ( quilters have limited time a patience) they did offer to replace the shortened fabric. I carved the piece out but will think twice about ordering. Just my experience...See Morerouge21_gw (CDN Z5b/6a)
