Janet Inada or Yolande d'Aragon
Comments (2)I'm guessing you would appreciate someone's first hand experience - I wish i had bought Yolande d'Aragon years ago so I could tell you, but it kept selling out before I could buy one. That's a good sign. Tried to do some research for you; it seems YDA would come out ahead with fragrance, although I couldn't find anywhere that would say what it smells like. It seems years ago I heard it smells like raspberries but that may be mistaken for another rose. I would love to know... Paul Barden says Janet smells citrusy rose as you probably already discovered. He also remarked that Janet blooms in "generous flushes" which may win out over YDA in that respect. When I can't decide one or the other, I abandon them both out of frustration!...See MoreDisease resistance of Yolande d'Aragon
Comments (23)I entirely agree that it is wrong to use people's pictures without their permission and that ignorance is no excuse, especially when Helpmefind is quite explicit in stating that the pictures are the property of those who took them. Nevertheless, I am persuaded that in this particular instance it was done without ill intent, and certainly without venal intent. People are sometimes hasty and make mistakes and it never hurts to assume good faith at least the first time something happens. The people on this forum are not the enemy -- after all, they are lovers of beautiful roses and also Paul's fans and potential customers, I know I am. Their good will is also of some value. and so is the atmosphere of the forum. I, myself often check in before going to bed because I am almost sure to come away uplifted and inspired....See Moreyolande d'aragon
Comments (7)@meadowpaint: www.antiqueroses.com is a fraudulent site. Some people reported making orders from the site in 2015/2016 and never received plants, and they had to file for a refund from their credit card companies. Don't purchase from that site!...See MoreYolande d'Aragon
Comments (25)Summers: hot and dry. No real rains from March/April until late Oct/Nov (if we're not in drought!). By hot I mean weeks of high 90s - can even get into the 100s (102-105...) with very low humidity. Low humidity means between 9-18%. Repeating speed: not fantastic, frankly, but improving with age, and my learning. I find that if I give the plant a pruning after a flush, rather than just snapping the blooms off, it flowers more. Same applies to all our Hybrid Perpetuals: Grandmother's Hat; La Reine; Old Town Novato; Marchesa Boccella. If we trim them all down at once after a flush, they repeat better here. As for space - I don't know how Yd'A would grow in zone 6. Here it's upright more than sprawling, but it's currently being crowded by a giant Tea (Soncy) that will need to be trimmed back to give it more breathing room (Soncy looks like Etoile de Lyon to me and wants to be huge, but I digress) Hope this helps....See Morelibrarian_gardner_8b_pnw
