This is pretty much the furniture layout, due to doorway one wall with bathroom door same wall on other end. Closet door on another. I tried moving the furniture around including angling bed in corner. I once had the bed on the wall to left of bed, but that has one window as well & it looked more awkward there with no room for side tables. I would consider painting the furniture, eventually, but that is a big job with so much more else to be done. I can live with it for now. Just need suggestions for the curtains.

Thank you so much for the suggestions. I am so glad I found this forum--this is exactly what I was looking for. Sometimes you need fresh eyes. I can see that this site could be a bit addictive! So I didn't think I liked shorter length curtains either, but I'm reconsidering that. Thanks for the helpful photo & input, roarah. I never would have thought about the difference between sill-length and a bit lower, but I see your point. I don't really want Roman shades, as I want to keep the blinds, and I'd like something to cover the sides of the blinds, but thank you for the suggestion. As for the panels to the floor, that was my first choice, but the radiator cover extends out so far that I'm not sure that will look right, even with holdbacks. I have printed out a couple of pics of the window above the radiator, and I'm going to sketch out your suggestions to see how they look. I'll let you know what I decide. Oh, and the bed: There is a floor vent between the bed & radiator cover, so we can't move the bed too much closer. Luckily the frame is on wheels, so it's easy to roll when making the bed. One more question: Normally I line draperies, but since I'm using burlap, I wonder if unlined might look more light-diffusing & charming. Thoughts? Thanks again!

We have a master with a lake view and although it might be a bit more than your budget, we have a blackout cellular cordless shade with motorized lift. It goes across a window similar in span to the three panes on the left side of your photo. It has a remote control and it is a fun thing for us to press a button to behold the morning view from the bed before getting up. We have non-motorized cellular shades on our smaller windows.

Hey There: I love the trim and casing around your windows and doors - so you have to go with an inside mount for sure. Here is the thing though: If you go with roller shades, you will have a gap of about 3/4 inch on each side which is required for them to operate properly - so you cannot black out the room. You can do roman shades but this will take away about 1/3 of the height of your window and block the view- though they have only a minimal gap on the side. And you can go with honeycomb bottom up and top down blinds...versatile in light management and privacy...available in hundreds of colors to go with your design.
